Oh, that's interesting!! Thanks for sharing! I'm really curious to see what the final series of Torchwood is going to be like now that they don't have the main set anymore.

Yeah, the end of this episode definitely left me feeling like there's no way out and leaves me all the more intrigued to find out how it's actually going to go next. I've definitely enjoyed this start to the Moffat era. :)

Britany Felix

Yeah, that end part with Amy and Rory was rough... but this certainly felt like a big WTF episode with the reveal of the Alliance.

Britany Felix

Makes sense. I had forgotten about the silence part of it.

Britany Felix

Oh, ouch! Well, that's a heartbreaking way to look at it. :(

I'm still happily living in my little denial bubble. lol

Britany Felix

Hahahahaha best reaction ever! "It's fine, I'm going to live in denial of a lot of things." I love this season finale so much. I'm really looking forward to next week's reaction.

I hate to think that the distress the visions caused Vincent is history putting itself right and ultimately the pain his love for the doctor and Amy caused him to take his life. This is a great first part. It is paced perfectly and the Stonehenge speech is iconic.

'Why did the sound cut out like that?' Silence fell

this is easily the most fun dw season finale in my opinion :) I mean, apart from all the trauma of rory's return/remembrance and amy's subsequent death <3 can't wait to watch part two with you !!

The Inedible Mattman!

This has got to be my favorite cliffhanger of Nu Who. Don’t get me wrong, Stolen Earth (from season 4) might actually have one that’s more intense on a personal level, but this one does right what many seasons just do wrong. It’s not about shock value. It’s about writing yourself into a corner and then asking “what the heck can possibly happen next to save us all?!” Pure Moffatt here in top form. I will say, without spoilers, that my favorite Moffatt season will be the next season. For a lot of reasons (again no spoilers) but this debut season for Moffatt as a Showrunner is almost flawless. It’s everything I’ve come to love about Doctor Who and I sincerely have enjoyed every minute rewatching with you. Thank you so much for this joy!!

The Inedible Mattman!

So, to sum up the situation at the end of this episode: the Doctor is sealed inside an impenetrable prison by an alliance containing every enemy he's ever faced; Amy has been shot by a plastic replica of her dead fiancé; River is about to die, trapped inside the TARDIS as it explodes; and that explosion leads to the unraveling of the entire universe. In the final shot -- almost an exact reverse of the opening shot of the season -- we pull back from Earth as all the visible stars silently explode and disappear, leaving the Earth drifting alone through the void. Fade to black. I think Steven Moffat looked at Russell T Davies' five years of continually escalating season finales and set himself the task of creating a cliffhanger bigger than all of them, one so big that the question is not "What will happen next?" but rather "What can *possibly* happen next?" :-)
