TV in the UK in the 60s was 405 Lines right up to 1973, so resolution was far far lower. There are some video filters out there which can mimic this to give you an idea, but basically it if wasn't in close up you could forget much in the way of detail, hence viewers at the time wouldn't have seen wires etc.

2022-12-31 18:45:42 +0000 UTCTV were so low resolution back in those days that wires were basically invisible. Sometimes I think having the video smaller to watch with your reaction is a good thing, as we kind of see how it would have been back in those days without the flaws being quite so glaring.
