I was lucky enough to visit the British Museum 25 years ago, and I was so excited that they filmed there. You can see the real Rosetta Stone on display at the 21:00 mark at the top of the stairs when the Doctor "dies". The history nerd in me loves that so much.

I'm glad someone else picked up on the wardrobe point from Flesh And Stone. It was a great touch.

I think this series is even better on a rewatch. It's probably the one I rewatch the most. In terms of qualifying the finale as "not the biggest", it really depends on your point of view. Technically the last 2 episodes are both the "finale" and it includes all of the Doctor's enemies coming together to defeat him and the TARDIS exploding and destroying all of time. Those are pretty big events, if I do say so myself. The final episode definitely has a more quiet vibe and a relatively simple solution but I think it works for the story. We went big on the penultimate episode and then had an intimate final episode. This series all revolve around the theme of fairy tales. It starts with a child's imaginary friend and it ends with the child wishing everything back to normal. Of course all of it is wrapped around a coherent sci-fi world but it still works as a magical journey. I think the show has higher peaks but throughout my many rewatches, I've come to the conclusion that this is the most thematically consistent of all the series.

The casting of young Amy is so good because she's Karen's cousin! Love that detail

I love this finale. Do I think it's the best? No. But idk it's so fun and action-packed, yet there were still some really really sweet moments between characters. "Why do you have to be so... human?" "Because, right now, I'm not." is one of my favorite lines. And River and the Doctor's exchange at the end... God, I love her. I totally agree with what you said about eleven's intensity/anger compared to playfulness!! It makes series 5 more enjoyable in many ways, but sometimes it feels like it's missing something for me. Looking forward to watching series 6 with you and seeing how your feelings towards/understanding of eleven might change <3333

In the 1st episode of the season, a shadowed figure can just barely be seen walking through Amy's house. Moffet confirmed it was the Doctor from the end of the series Also the scene from The Time Of Angels/Flesh And Stone, not sure if you remember it but it was in one of those episodes (I don't remember which one) I haven't seen anyone including myself on first watch of those episodes notice that in that scene when the Doctor tells Amy to remember he has his jacket on despite The Doctor of the episode losing his

He wired Rivers Vortex Manipulator to the Pandorica, he flies it the same way he would have took Rory with him if he hadn't chosen to stay. The pandorica contained a 'copy' of the universe, the exploding Tardis was exploding throughout history. So the light rebooted the universe at every point in time He had already given Amy all the information that she needed in order to bring him back so he 'skipped the rest of the rewind' he was skipping because he needed to be on the other side of the cracks. After his conversation with Amelia he went through. Made sense to me at least more than a lot of Doctor Who resolutions 🤷‍♂️

Michael

Fair enough...a definite 'get out' clause from Moffat!

Ian Smith

Why didn't he regress to being at the very start of his first life? // It's explained in the episode though, he says "I think I'll skip the rest of the rewind. I hate repeats", so he skips past it ;)

This episode starts REALLY well (a great cold open!),and the first 30 minutes or so (basically the stuff in the Museum) are very ingenious - but Moffat seems to write himself into a corner, and it then becomes unfathomable. Why/how can he fly the Pandorica? How is he able to return to the point where he first met Amelia? Why didn't he regress to being at the very start of his first life? What - basically - is going on?! In the end,I would sum the story as "Nifty idea - overly complicated solution" Fun,though.
