FULL EDIT | DOCTOR WHO | Christmas 2007: Voyage of the Damned

Sorry this one is a little late. I forgot how long the specials are so I underestimated the export times for all three specials going out today.

Comments

I noticed you audibly reacted when Verity Lambert’s in memoriam popped up at the end. I’m taking from that you know who she is, but if you didn’t, she was Doctor Who’s first show runner, main producer, back when it began in 1963. She lived long enough to see her creation blossom back into a British phenomenon. And it was a phenomenon these episodes, each one was the TV event of the week. But no, I’ve always had a soft spot for this one, as I was just learning about the Titanic for the first time when it aired. I turned 9 in 2007 and had watched the James Cameron movie with parents supervising, and so this was always going to be up my street. I should’ve commented on the reaction to the Series 3 finale, but Martha Jones was and personally still is my favourite companion. Rose was the PTSD companion, but with Ten she started to show her heavy rather mumbling, sulky grumpy weight a bit. Martha being so smart to not let the Doctor’s secrets be kept from her, I just appreciated her so much more than Rose. I can’t fathom what I know now that Freema was subjected to a ton of racism when she was cast.
