I can't believe this episode aired over 10 years ago! It still holds up as one of the best series starters (that doesn't rely too heavily on a series arc). You're in for a hell of a ride this series, there's a few duds like the episode that follows, but overall a strong series with a lot happening. All leading up to an exciting era of the show

2023-03-05 13:34:12 +0000 UTCAs much as I enjoy this episode, I always thought it would have made more sense as a Cyberman story. They convert people, and Daleks are known to not let "lesser" Daleks live so I don't get why they would have the Asylum

There is a timing reason behind why they put Amy and Rory back together so fast but I can't tell you why because of spoilers. I absolutely LOVE Oswin, she's just brilliant. An impossible girl working from inside a Dalek, such a clever story. And there is another reason I love Oswin so much but again I can't say why because of spoilers lol. There's a lot in this episode that has implications for the middle of the series so there's not much I can say about it at this point apart from how much I love it. 😂💕

The color scheme of the vortex clouds are different then season 6 & different each episode, the font & style used for the actor names & episode title is different & the Doctor Who logo is slightly tweaked & different each episode. For episode 1 the logo was made up of Dalek armor & in episode 2 it was made from dinosaur scales

2023-03-04 04:00:09 +0000 UTCYes I love this story. A lot of nice references. Kemble was a planet in the first Doctor story, Dalek Masterplan and Vulcan was the planet in Power of the Daleks. Inever caught on to Oswin being a Dalek until the revel.

2023-03-03 21:44:21 +0000 UTCi LOVE this episode, one of my all time favorites, Oswin is my favorite one-time "companion" and the twist with her is incredible and the ending heart shattering. I never saw someone call it as early as you did, very early on you said "is she in a Dalek?" That was a very good catch!
