I dont know if you've found out since you watched this (two years ago!) but Clara was actually saying I love you to the Doctor, not Danny. You can see that she is looking at him as she says it. And Jenna herself confirms that Clara is saying it to the Doctor at a convention.

Agreed, the tension in the hallway scene is off the charts! My favourite episode of season 8. Doesn't try to do anything too fancy, but perfectly executed.

Lois Lane

This was the first time Capaldi actually clicked as the Doctor for me (the longest a Doctor has ever took.) The way he acted here reminded me of Doctor House from the series House MD. Plus it's a really good story especially as I hated the last two. They are in my bottom ten of new Who stories. This one however is 5/5 and is 32 out of 140.

Well, I’ve always figured that he’s done multiple things in the Time War that are bad, not just one. I can't imagine in a conflict like that, The Doctor was squeaky clean the whole time until he stole The Moment.

The actor who plays Perkins (who you were suspicious of the whole time lol) is actually a MASSIVE Doctor Who fan. When he is asked if he wants to stay and travel with the Doctor and says no, the actor said that was the hardest word to say in that moment. He would have loved nothing more than to stay on and become a companion.

This is one of my favourite episodes too!

I'm totally with you on that. I can imagine The Doctor wrapping Clara in the blankets and carrying her across the beach, adorable. 😭

I'm genuinely obsessed with your little side-eye whenever the doctor and clara have a particularly tense moment lmfaooo I love love this episode <3 the scene in the train hallway and then when clara wakes up by the rocks make me crazy I could dissect every single detail of their conversations for 248308406 years

I really LOVE this episode so I'm glad you liked it. The concept is so well done, it's scary, it's exciting from start to finish and it's great fun to watch. The guy Perkins is played by Frank Skinner who's a very famous comedian here in Britain. The character does seem a bit off for some reason lol but he is just a good guy. My favourite thing about this episode is, unsurprisingly, The Doctor and Clara. The way they stand so close to each other and the way Clara talks about him to the lady say enough. But then that ending was amazing! When Clara said "I love you" on the phone to Danny she said it loudly and was looking at The Doctor and then The Doctor had a little smile. And Jenna confirmed at a comic con a few years ago that Clara was saying "I love you" to The Doctor and not to Danny, it was written that way. I have gifs of it on my phone but unfortunately can't send them here. But yeah she loves The Doctor more than Danny. And that's why she suddenly realized that she has to keep travelling with him and that's why she lied to Danny about stopping. And oh the smile on The Doctor's face when she says she wants to stay says it all. And I love the way they pull the TARDIS levers at the same time. This was a great episode for us Whouffaldi shippers lol. 😍 Sorry for the gushing, they just make me really happy.

The mummy salute i think was him thanking the doctor for putting him out of his misery and in exchange thanked him by gaving his life energy to allow the doctor to save everyone.

Jason Jeffery

This is correct.

This is one of my favourite episodes of New Who. Had everything I wanted... an interesting villain, a mystery, character development & an interesting ending setting up a potential future collision between Danny, Clara & The Doctor, I dont think The Doctor ever forgave himself for the Time War, thats why he hates soldiers. Even though, he changed what he did, in one point in time, he did make the choice to kill his people. I cant imagine you can ever move on from that. Not to mention the fact that 12 seems to not know who he is yet as established throughout this series. Probably has to do with the fact that this is the first body of a new regeneration cycle. Also, a nice callback to the Jelly Babies used by previous Doctors in Classic Who & the Doctor Who Movie. Plus, a callback to the "Are you my mummy?" from the 1 series of New Who.

Tommy

If I remember correctly it’s at the end of Series 5, after the Ponds get married and the Doctor picks them up in the TARDIS, the TARDIS console phone rings and the Doctor says something about being invited aboard the Orient Express. At the time just one of those throw away sentences, but if this is anything to go by they never actually went on that trip and it was only now we finally go.
