- This video is in a watch-along format. This means you'll need your own copy of the episode to watch alongside my reaction. This is in an effort to avoid copyright infringement.

On Steve knowing about Tony's Parents: In the previous captain America movie (winter solider) during the scene where Steve and Nat talk to the now computerised Zola, he explains how HYDRA has been using Bucky to manipulate world events. They show various images on screen whilst he talks about this (including one which suggests Bucky assassinated JFK). When Zola says the line "accidents will happen" they show some images of a newspaper reporting the Starks' death, implying HYDRA was behind their "accident". Since they had previously shown they primarily used Bucky for their assassinations one could infer that he was the one who did it. The implication in this movie is that Steve figured this out in between that movie and this one and chose not to tell Tony. On Civil War's adaptation: This movie is based on the marvel comic book event called "Marvel's Civil War" like in the movie, it primarily focused on an internal conflict between superheroes lead by Captain America and Iron Man over new Government oversight after a very public incident involving a young superhero. In the comic it was called the superhero registration act and like the movie's sokovia accords it required that all superheroes become government agents however another detail not in the movie is it also required all superheroes who have a secret identity to reveal it. The movie does not include this as pretty much no MCU superheroes have secret identities. The movie takes many liberties by adding the focus on bucky and Zemo (a classic captain America villain), but the biggest difference being scale. In the comics the conflict goes on much longer and involves significantly more superheroes, with hundreds of them having to choose a side. Whilst some were disappointed in the smaller scale of the movie compared to the comic, i personally believe it does an excellent job of adapting the story to fit the larger narrative of the MCU.

2023-06-26 21:05:28 +0000 UTCMarvel decided to skip Spider-Man's origin seeing it was covered multiple times before in other movies. I was stoked to finally see an actor that looked like the age he was supposed to be (14-15 years old) instead of 25-year-old actors playing the role before.
