I was SO excited for you to reach this two parter. Matt is AMAZING in it! Also this means that Clyde and Rani have now met two versions of The Doctor, more than most main companions. And Clyde still has this totally unique Artron energy connection with The Doctor. I guess this is something that The Doctor could activate at any time and it makes Clyde even more special in the whoniverse. I love that. Jo's name is Jo Jones. She was Jo Grant back in Classic Who but Jo Jones is her name now since she got married. So when The Doctor said Smith and Jones he was referring to her surname. I always crack up when the Groske walks into the funeral chamber after the explosion and says "it smells like roast chicken." Because the Shansheeth are like big birds and they blew up so... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I can't wait for next week. It's my favourite story from the entire show, Doctor episodes aside. I look forward to seeing what you think. 😊

Those companion updates at the end. Wow. The first time I watched this story and heard about Ian and Barabara's future, I actually got teary eyed! And yes - this story is VERY spoilery; but we could hardly ask you to skip it :)

Ian Smith

The other ex-companions name is Jo Jones, but before she was married she went by Jo Grant. Katy Manning (Jo) is incredibly short-sighted, to the point she is legally blind without glasses. Behind the scenes when she started on Dr Who she could not tolerate contact lenses, and she refused to wear glasses because she did not like the way she looked with them. What this meant was she was very prone to accidents and clumsiness. I feel a lot of her clumsiness in Sarah Jane, as well as the mention of glasses was a cheeky nod to those behind-the-scenes shenanigans.
