True. The game really does punish physical attackers. Special attackers were great in gen1, and then Gamefreak invented Intimidate to continue making life hard for physical attackers. Not to mention, Steven Stone in Emerald...

2023-06-30 04:04:40 +0000 UTCRival Fival is almost trivial in FRLG because the biggest threat in Alakazam only knows future sight as a damaging move (Future Sight, Calm Mind, Reflect and Recover). So the days of scary Alakazams in that fight specifically are over ^^

2023-06-27 06:02:48 +0000 UTCWhat I'm really getting from FRLG is that especially compared to Emerald, this game is really hellish on physical attackers. Between Featherdance and Intimidate, there's so much physical punishing in this game compared to Emerald, that I imagine we're going to see a pretty massive difference between good special attackers and good physical attackers. Also: there's a lot more speed control too. It's interesting to see that even though the teams are generally worse, the weird AI quirks make the remakes really hard for some Pokemon.

What an incredible way to deal with what was otherwise an extremely difficult fight. (Also, we get to see that beautiful Gen III AI in action once Pidgeotto is slower than the Onix and it's no longer using Rock Tomb!)
