Game of Thrones: The Dragonborn - Chapter 96 - Finding the Mountain.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV.
Riverrun.

...

...

The northern army and the Lannisters finally clashed in the following weeks after the northern army passed through the Twins, under the command of the Lord of the Crossing, Walder Frey.

No one outside the army knew the exact terms of the agreement, but there was certainly a deal—knowing how the old Frey acted, always trying to take advantage of the situation. Seeing that the North needed him, he surely took much more than just a small favor.

Then, in one of the first moves Robb Stark made as a commander in his father’s absence, he surprised everyone. While all were shocked by Robb Stark sacrificing 2,000 men to deceive Tywin Lannister, he captured Jaime Lannister and imprisoned him.

“Hahaha!”
“Stop, please!”

Footsteps...

“You will be my prize today. Be honored!”

Footsteps...

“Father!”
“Don’t worry, he’s dead.”

Footsteps...

The man, who had removed his armor to lower his trousers and strip the cheap dress off the peasant girl as he began to rape her, didn’t even hear the footsteps approaching from behind as a massive shadow loomed over him.

The woman was still trying to call for help, and the man took great pleasure in it, but then it happened.

The sound of flesh being sliced was heard, and the man took a few seconds to realize what was happening. Then, the pain came.

“Ahhhh!! My leg!!” he screamed, immediately looking back, seeing a man with a sword over his leg, pressing it against the ground as he stripped the young woman.

The girl finally freed herself from the man’s grip and moved away, terrified by his screams. She stood up, trying to cover herself with the torn dress, sobbing as she looked at the man who had been touching her, now crying out in agony, with another man standing over him, his sword still piercing his leg.

“What do we have here...” The stranger’s voice spoke as he looked down at the man pinned to his sword, his blood soaking the grass of the small farm.

“Get this off me! You bastard!” the man sobbed.

He tried to lunge at Jon with his hands, but the Dragonborn grabbed him and slammed him to the ground in one swift move. The next moment, he pulled out a dagger and drove it into the man’s hand, pinning it to the ground as well.

“AHHHH!!!” The man screamed once more, the unbearable pain consuming him.

“Well... how about you answer my questions...” Jon said calmly, looking at the stranger.

“Go to hell!” the man shouted.

“I wasn’t talking to you...” Jon said, and in the next instant, the barn door swung open, revealing another man adjusting his trousers and drawing a sword.

“Harrik! What’s going on?!” he shouted, only to see the stranger toss something at him. The next moment, a sword embedded itself in his thigh, sending him crashing to the ground with a scream of pain.

“Ahhhh!” he cried out, while the young girl trembled in fear.

“So much screaming.” Jon commented calmly, pulling his sword from the first man’s leg and slashing his neck, killing him instantly.

The man with the sword in his thigh, despite his pain, watched in horror as the stranger approached him with the same bloodied sword.

“Who are you?! We’re part of the northern army!!” the man shouted.

“Yes, I recognize your sigil, Freys...” Jon said, closing the distance without hesitation. “I came for information, but instead, I found you raping women... I bet you’re army scouts and found this farm... I didn’t know Northerners allowed this.” Jon spoke.

Clearly, this place had once been home to three people who had not fled the war. Inside, the corpse of the man lay fresh, killed by the same one now on the ground. Afterward, he had raped the woman—the mother of the girl—while the husband’s body was still warm. The other man, the one Jon had just killed, had taken his turn with the girl.

“You’re dead, you son of a bitch!” the man roared.

“Why do people curse so much... Not even in Skyrim did I hear such language...” Jon remarked with a hint of irony.

"You are going to tell me something." Jon approached the man with cold eyes, showing that he had no mercy left for him.

"What do you want?" The man no longer had the same courage, crying from the pain in his wounded thigh, bleeding as he looked at Jon in fear.

"I need information about the Mountain. Do you know where he is?" Jon asked.

"He... I heard he was further southwest from here! Besieging some villages!" he said. "Are you going to let me live?"

"Tsk. Obviously not. I wouldn’t do that even if you had chosen not to tell me." Jon replied, and the man didn’t even have time to react before the sword struck his forehead, killing him instantly.

Jon remained silent as he saw the door open and a woman, covering herself, ran out toward her daughter.

‘The harsh reality of war... where the weakest suffer...’ Jon murmured internally. The man shouldn’t have been there with his family. He fell, and his wife and daughter suffered for it... Of course, Jon couldn’t claim he could change that. After all, this was happening everywhere in this kingdom—whether in the northern army, the Lannister army, or even the soldiers of Riverrun, as he had seen himself...

He had avenged them against these Freys, but certainly, thousands of others were suffering the same fate, and there was nothing he could do about it.

"You can stay here... The northern army will soon come to check what happened to their scouts. Tell them the truth. With that, I’m leaving." Jon said to them as he walked away, leaving the mother and daughter crying among the corpses.

He couldn’t take care of everyone, and he still had a mission to complete.

Leaving them behind, he continued onward, letting out a small whistle to call his horse to follow him before mounting and heading toward the area. He didn’t even need to ask where to find the Mountain—he could simply follow his clairvoyance. And the man had been slightly wrong, for the Mountain was actually to the west.

As he traveled there, he came across several plundered villages, full of corpses, people of all kinds lying lifeless. He couldn’t even be sure which group had done it, as he couldn’t trust anyone.

Jon had already fought in many battles and even a war in Skyrim. He had encountered similar sights during his adventures, exploring the world, where bandit groups were responsible for wiping out entire villages, stealing women, and slaughtering men. But war... War was an even crueler sight, where every kind of crime was committed.

Jon continued his journey through the destruction. Tywin's men had been freed as soon as his son was captured by the Fish of Winterfell. Even Jon wondered what that woman had in mind, putting her husband and homeland in danger. After all, Tywin Lannister was known for not allowing anyone to stain his family's name. Jon would be the one to destroy the Lannisters, but no one else in this world could do what he could.

Either way, he continued traveling until nightfall.

His dreams came near morning, as he saw through Ghost’s eyes in the tent he had set up inside the camp. He always kept watch to see how things were going in the camp—after all, he was still the one leading it.

He saw his aunt sewing in the morning alongside Lucis, while Val brought them hot coffee, as Jon had left them with a good stock of anything they might need.

He listened in on their conversations, many of which were about him—even looking at the wolf, as if hoping he was watching them.

In the end, Jon stopped using his Warg power on Ghost and rose from his small camp. His eyes turned white one last time as he looked through the vision of a raven in the sky. When his eyes returned to normal, a smile formed on his lips.

"Looks like I’m finally close to you..." Jon had found the Mountain heading toward a small village.

He mounted his horse and rode down the road.

A few hours later, he finally arrived at the village, already in chaos, people fleeing as Jon advanced. There were at least 40 Lannister men there.

Ignoring the burning houses, he rushed toward an inn, leaping off his horse. Almost none of the men paid attention to him, and those who did, standing in front of the inn, only saw a blade coming at them—separating their heads from their necks.

"Stop!!" A young voice came from inside just as a boy was thrown aside by one of the men.

"Your sister will be the Mountain’s insatiable meal in just a moment. So just watch and enjoy the show." A Lannister man sneered, laughing at the despair of the boy breaking free from his grip.

In front of them stood the feared Mountain, stepping toward a young girl on the floor, sobbing and crawling as fast as she could, but there was nowhere to run. With each step, the massive warrior loomed closer.

A man lay dead nearby—likely the father of the two siblings—who never even had a chance. The girl was moments away from being raped as well.

The five Lannister soldiers inside laughed, ready to witness something all too common in these last moons since Tywin had unleashed his beast upon this land to spread chaos.

But then, something unexpected happened. A sharp whistling sound cut through the air. An arrow flew from the entrance, striking the Mountain’s backside.

"ARGH!!" He jumped, momentarily stunned, staggering to one side as blood trickled down. The arrow hadn’t embedded deeply—it was just meant to startle him—but everyone was stunned nonetheless. The Mountain had taken off his armor.

He immediately turned, along with the others, to see a man standing in the entrance, smiling with satisfaction at what he had just done.

"What do we have here... A pedophile rapist... Well, lucky me—I found exactly who I was looking for, haven’t I? Mountain..." Jon spoke calmly.

The Mountain said nothing, his gaze filled with pure hatred as he saw the stranger holding a bow. He simply yanked the arrow from his rear with fury, letting the blood drip, then charged at Jon with unrelenting rage.

Jon only smiled as he watched, knowing this was the moment he would face the man who had caused so much suffering—someone who defied even the gods of this world. After all, Jon had received something in particular from one of the Daedrics, a power he had kept hidden until now.

As the massive warrior sprinted toward Jon in full view of everyone, far away, a group of horsemen rode through the forest.

"He camped here, my lord... left a few traces, though not many." A Northman reported to his commander.

"I see... then we’re close. Let’s keep going until we find him!" Robb Stark ordered, riding his horse, leading a force of 50 men tracking the one who had killed two of their scouts at the farmstead incident.

"Fus Ro Dah!!"

At that exact moment, the entire wall of the tavern exploded outward. A shockwave like a thunderclap drowned out every other sound in the burning, chaotic village as a body was sent flying, crashing onto the ground like a ragdoll.

ROOOOOOAAAARRRR

At the same time, a beastly roar echoed from inside the tavern, catching every Lannister soldier completely off guard.
