But why Jon should just allow the northern lords to retain their titles and the starks too? Jon was more than ready and happy to kill them on the battlefield. Why should Jon just let them join him without punishment, specifically Ned stark, is not a punishment allow them to retain winterfell and then making a marriage to them. What kind of vengeance is that. They should be brought low and never allowed them rise back, Jon should take winterfell from them and give it to Lucy, Val or Ygritte child. The northern lords purge to avoid any war in the future if one son of Robb wants winterfell back like the grey starks. Jon shouldn’t care about having or not good will with the northerners their armies are broken and their land too. The cunts too, will start rambling about the free folk and Daenerys. There’s something better than an alliance and that’s putting your children as the next leaders of great houses, Targaryen houses that will rule the seven kingdoms in conjoint.

Jon doesn't seem to "hate" either him or ned, and they have no hope of regaining the north as they are. so if robb and ned submit to jon's rule after being promised revenge, they could join his march south. they could also help gather some of the northern lords to submit as well and join jon's army. trhe north will hate the south, more than jon. they lost many sons at the red wedding and it was a huge betrayal. by butchering the boltons and hanging them up for the northern lords to see he will gain a lot of good will. plus jon has no desire to personally rule. dany will be on the iron throne, the starks would retain the north, but under the targeryan rule. and as others have mentioned, down the road they could further unite the north with them by marriage. jon has 4 wives already, he will have many children that can cement long lasting allies one day.
