A couple of things!

Hey folks, I just had some news and something I wanted to ask you all.

First of all, I'm really excited to say that "Monster Hunting... For Love!" will be released on Steam next month on the 14th  (MAR 14).  You can actually see the Steam page now and add it to your wishlist!  So, if you missed that back in October, you'll be able to grab it on Steam for $3.99.  We've added 20 achievements to it for the Steam launch, and I made some minor tweaks to the code and dialogue in some places.  You can see the page HERE!  It was a good learning process for putting something on Steam, and I'm really excited to have it on a larger platform for distribution.

While in the process of doing this though, someone else sent me a message and pointed out Itch.io and how they handled their updates for titles.  On itch, you can actually download their app and it'll download updates to games when they are available.  This -should- result in no need to downloading the entire game over again.  It would require you to have an itch.io account and to link your Patreon account to it, so if I went through the process of setting this up, would you guys use that?  It wouldn't be necessary, but it might make things easier for you all (it would just add a little extra work for me and for me to remember it).  How does this sound to you?  Do any of you have experience with this already and like how it works?  Let me know!

Also, any other comments, questions or concerns (that aren't answered in my FAQ x3)?  Let me know!

I actually really like the Itch.io update feature. Two of my other Patreon creators use it and its worked out really well so far.

Pentasphere

are you considering making an nsfw version of monster hunting... for love? id be willing to pay a little extra if you do :3

Kota Michael Tafoya

I definitely wouldn't do it as solely an Itch thing either. I don't want to cast anyway away!

DyneWulf

I'm fine with whatever is easier for you. I can go both ways really.

Damion Andrew

If itch.io makes downloading easier then I'm for it.

It really is not a issue for me the way you have it setup. But if it is easyer for you i am fine with it. I just hope it wirks on phones to. That is how i play on my android.

Bigerbear

All the platforms work for me. At this point, congratulations are overdue for publishing on Steam. I’d have to agree with my fellow patrons, it’s more operationally advantageous to stick with the arrangement which involves the least effort investment for already awesome content.

I use it for some VNs I follow like Tennis Ace and After Class. So if you had this option for EA I would definitely use it. But if it turns out to be too much work to get this all sorted I would say don't worry about it.

Alexander Lukas Bryant

For some reason it reminds me of The Ultimate Haunted House.

Yinzer

I've used Itch.io and while it's super convenient, it's worth noting that sometimes you may need to make breaking changes that will render old saves invalid—which could be frustrating if some hapless soul was really into their save but time-constrained. Speaking personally, so long as it's not a pain for you, I would absolutely appreciate automatic updating. I'm often a few versions behind since I'm often too busy nowadays to enjoy even the monthly story updates, so it would save me coming here to check.

Jay G

I love your game so much so I don't downloading the entire again either if that is easier for you. But if it is possible then it would save a lot space i think

Viet Tran

I'm fine with redownloading it each time. Especially if its less work on you lol.

Gaffgarion

I don't mind at all downloading the entire game. If having it on Itch.io makes more work for you, you shouldn't bother with it.

Shadowmarkwolf

Personally I would prefer downloading the entire program every time. I already have enough accounts for things. I would prefer not having another account, much less linking two accounts together.

Morphbeast

I'm cool with however you release it, not gonna lie I'd love to just have it through Steam because let's be honest Steam is just amazing for digital license managing, but I also know Steam is really fucking rough about taking way too much of the pie of someone elses hard work when it comes to indie games which is what EA would count as for sure, I don't even know if they've changed their system enough to allow adult visual novels to be released without being censored, from the content changes they made it sounds like they have set it up now where things like this can be released without being censored. Honestly though you should release this however is best for you, we've all been here pledging our support because we care about you and your work and I think a lot of would agree on the idea that you should release this however is best for you, I mean we wouldn't have supported your work this long if we didn't care about what it meant for you you know. You're work is amazing and EA is a fantastic game but really just release it however makes less work for you to manage because you've put so much work into it already, you've more than earned the right to just take whatever release route eases your workload.

ArcTheWolf

Personally, it's not really an issue on downloading updates everytime it's released, even with my sad internet connection. I would recommend against it if that meant extra work for you.. but do what you think what's best.

Kai

I have an itch.io account but I prefer downloading each update from Patreon. I never finished getting all the legacy artwork but I still have the older versions on my computer so I can go back to get it. If the game is auto updated, I lose that capability.

Mar Lupus

Personally, It doesn't really matter to me. I don't have an issue with downloading the upadates and install them, but truth is i didn't really new about itch.io ether... Well my point is that I dont think there going to be any true issues in the downloading matter, just do it the way that you think best, I mean from what i read nobody really have an issue with the downloads... Aaah! Gratz for the release on steam, btw !!

Xeralex

Thank you!

DyneWulf

Itch actually has a Patreon integration for games, so you can set downloads to be available to only patreons (that's why you'd have to link your account). I wouldn't force people to do this either, so I'll keep doing it like I normally do regardless. I was just thinking about a way to make it easier for those that want it :)

DyneWulf

Congrats on steam release! And about itch.io... Well, as far as i heard its great, but never really used it myself, or plan on using it. For me downloading client over and over again isnt really an issue, and since im used to doing it already - i'll probably just use the service once, say "cool" and forget about it. So, unless you just wouldnt leave us any other option (for one reason or the other), i would stick to just redownloading the game, but if i have to - i will use the service. Although that does make me wonder - what about people that do not, well, support you on patreon? is it exclusive to patreons? Isnt it gonna probably break something?

Congratulations on the Steam release!

I heard about that patreon/itch.io account linking thint to auto update games, as Kemo Coliseum started it few months ago. Me personally, i have zero issues with downloading EA again for an update. Imo I wouldn't bother it especially since it means more work for you, but again that's just me. As for monster hunting..................................................for love, it makes me wish EA was on there too. Yes i know steam is against nudity still some what buuut "Coming Out on Top" and "Lagoon Lounge The Poisonous Fountain" are both on there and the devs give a link to add the nudity patch to their games afterwards hehe. I just want Extracurricular Activities to be as well known being on a popular platform as Steam. So i believe this is possible :3

Hyou Vizer

It doesn't matter to me. I do have a itch.io account but I'm up there every now and then to check out updates and stuff.

Antonio

Congrats on getting Monster Hunting on steam! Hope you get a lot more patrons and attention from there! You really deserve it! And adding it to itch.io could really help to. I have an account on there as well and the games seem to work fine on there. My only gripe is that you can only play the games while connected to the internet. At least that's the problem I seem to be having. It's not a big deal though, my internet is just unreliable at times and it can get frustrating. I mostly use the android version when that happens though which is why I'm grateful for all of your hard work lol.

Osvaldo Lopez

That sounds great! Its been one reason why I haven't kept up as much, and it would make things easier

Nxhoj

That'd be correct. I don't know if they have an android app or not (I don't see one on the play store anyway).

DyneWulf

I like itch.io. I already have an account and I would happily use it. Also, great to hear about Monster Hunting being on steam!

Nickthulhu

I would definitely use it! I have always found that to be a bit of a painstaking process and sometimes i wait until both of the month's downloads are available before i download the next update(though usually only on Housecleaning update).

AxlAlecksAkra

That's just for pc though right? Don't think it would make much of a difference since I mainly use the android app. But it could be nice in my opinion
