In a grand castle overlooking a small hamlet, a feared and powerful vampire king resided over. The mighty monster had ruled over the land for many generations with a powerful grip over the scared populace who couldn’t leave the town if they wanted to. Through the years, many a monster hunter had tried to make a claim of killing the powerful vampire king that preyed on the villager’s livestock and, oddly enough, their young men. OF course, after the fifth vampire hunter failed to return from the imposing castle, and the attacks persisted, the village elders imposed a strict rule.
“We don’t pay upfront.”
“Really?” Riley sighed, looking over at the mayor as he was told the abridged history and subsequent reason for the rule in place affecting him.
“I’m sorry son, but we can’t keep paying vampire hunter after hunter just to die especially when they don’t even finish the job,” The mayor said from his seat behind the desk, patting his balding head and explaining the problem the town had. “You have to understand. With so many adventurers never coming back, we had to impose this rule or we’d literally empty the town coffers without dealing with our problem.”
Riley sighed, unable to find any real fault with the logic, even if it left him strapped for cash to prepare for the hunt. Whilst it wasn’t ideal to have to wait to be paid, the young monster hunter knew he couldn’t be picky. “Is there at least some form of down payment?”
“If you get through the castle and survive, I’m sure you will find the previous slayers and their payments.”
Taken aback by the rather cavalier attitude, Riley couldn’t keep from sighing. He figured this village just became numb to the danger of being shadowed by the castle and the threat of the vampire. “Well, don’t worry sir. I’ll take care of that monster and free your town.”
The mayor could only stare, watching the would-be hero leave, heading out the town hall towards the path that wound the mountain pass and came to the castle that loomed over them. Making sure he was out of earshot, the mayor turned towards his assistant.”
“Update the lives claimed counter.”

Getting up to the looming castle, Riley found himself unable to fight back the shudder as he took in the twisting towers and haunting windows that bore down at him.
“Time to show them the hunter I am,” Riley said, reaching into his coat pockets as he approached the large doors that rivalled that of most buildings in height. Getting closer, trying to find a way in, Riley jumped back as the doors began to open without his touch. The expansive doors swung open to reveal a muscle-bound man, towering over Riley and clad in not but a loincloth and a bowtie. His pale skin glistened with sweat despite the cool atmosphere.
“Welcome to our master’s home. How can I help you?” The man asked, voice a deep baritone as he looked over his thick chest at the smaller hunter. Riley could see the slight red tinge of the imposing man’s eyes and the glint of his sharp fangs when he opened his mouth. Riley would have thrown himself at the vampire to slay him, but hearing he was simply a servant made the small man hold back. Riley knew it would be easier to find the head vampire and take care of him rather than alert him by killing the servants.
Standing up, Riley tried to make himself seem more imposing to the powerful vampire. “I’m here to see your master.” Riley began to say, only to stop as the large behemoth spoke up again.
“Ah, you must be the solicitor from London. Our master has been expecting you for days now,” the large servant said, stepping aside to let Riley in. “Come in. I will escort you to the master.”
“I… thank you,” Riley said, keeping a hand in his coat pocket where he felt one of his stakes. Passing the huge vampiric servant, Riley noted two main things. One was the expansive size of the entire with the golden gilded furnishings giving the room a slight glow. The second was the faintest smell of what seemed to be musk.
‘If the servant alone is so big, I can’t imagine the size of the vampire lord himself.’ Riley thought, pulled from his ruminations as the imposing servant guided him further into the castle. Passing the halls of closed doors, Riley was brought up to a door where a deep guttural sounded out, the stench in the air denser here.
“My master will see you.” The servant said, opening up the door and allowing Riley to see the creature that haunted the village for so long. What he saw shocked him. Taking up what seemed to be a dining hall was a massive of pale flesh, heaving rolls swelling out and dusted with hair as sweat dripped off its mounds. More muscular servants went around the huge blob, some carrying trays with raw bloody meats, others tending to the layers of fat that could easily bury a hut under them. It took Riley longer than he should have to realise the hill of fat before him was the feared vampire king.
“URRPPPP!” A booming belch erupted out of the mass, pulling Riley out of his stunned silence. The explosion of gas shook the ground and the chandelier above them. “So… You’re the solicitor. A Mr. Harper right?” A deep voice called, rivalling that of the servant’s own baritone voice.
Knowing that even if the huge blob was the vampire, Riley still had to take out the beast. Getting closer, Riley began talking about what was needed, trying to bluff his way as his hand in his pocket gripped the stake. Getting close to one of the huge rolls, Riley struck, pulling out the stake before stabbing it into the swollen mass. Rather than the expected howl of pain and dissolving to ash, Riley found his hand sinking into the rolls of fat, the cool flesh surrounding his hand as the servants barely acknowledged the attempt on their master.
A booming laugh erupted from the vampire king, causing his swollen body to wobble about, fat flesh slapping against each other and Riley’s slim form. “You thought a simple toothpick of a stake would harm me? Just for that entertainment, I will spare making you a servant. Men, bring the morsel up to my mouth.”
“Wait what?” Riley called, suddenly grabbed by the powerful men. Being pulled out from the trapped fat rolls, Riley tried to struggle against the powerful vampiric servants as he was brought up to the master’s face. The massive cheeks and jowls framed the huge fanged mouth, seeming eager to feed on the small hunter.
As the vampire king feasted on the snack. A young man stood outside the castle, shuffling papers for a property bought.
