Talking Simpsons - Another Simpsons Clip Show

Hoo boy, we've really hit a low with this one, the worst clip show and thus the worst episode of The Simpsons ever! But don't fret, we still worked hard to give you a fun podcast where we describe in detail how (intentionally) phoned in this one was. So enjoy this tribute to love with no memorable lines whatsoever!

(PS - We have an exciting Simpsons podcast interview coming very soon, so please don't worry that this podcast is a little shorter than usual.)

Talking Simpsons - Another Simpsons Clip Show

I took their "worst episode ever" to mean worst episode up to this point, but concede since they phrased it as such it does sound like it includes all episodes ever. I'm pretty sure Bob has stated he doesn't watch the new episodes (and I think Hank said the same) while it sounds like Chris checks in on them here and there so they're not in a position to name this as worst ever. Though I'm really surprised you didn't mention the "The Man Who Came to be Dinner" as bing among the worst. What started as a pretty entertaining parody of Disneyland and its legacy really turns into a turd-fest quite fast.

I'm sad to report that this episode is still being played in syndication. My DVR tapes all Simpsons reruns on FXX (saved for rainy days) and this one was on recently. Albeit terrible, I relate to this episode so hard- love sucks, because it does.

I'm going to be that guy (since what is life without meaningless nerd fights). This is far from the worst episode of the series. Mirkin's sheer spite for having to put together a clip show is evident in every aspect of the episode. Unlike Sculley and Maxtone-Graham's palpable resentment for the shows most dedicated fans, Mirkin is punching up. The episode is clearly a giant fuck you to Fox from a man who knows there will be no consequence for his behaviour. It is not great, and obviously lazy, but I cannot help but appreciate Mirkin's sass. Conversely, in the 15 years that Al Jean has been defiling the corpse of Matt Groening's baby, the crew has pumped out many episodes that are unambiguously terrible. Rather than make an argument, here are some of the worst offenders, which speak for themselves. 1. That 90s Show - ‘nuff said! 2. Lost Verizon - Bart finds a cell phone – Dennis Leary’s cell phone! This wacky adventure is every bit as fun as it sounds. Dennis even says poop! 3. Double, Double, Boy in Trouble – Bart and a rich doppelganger trade places. There is not enough weed in the world to make this funny. 4. Little Big Girl – Bart “impregnates” a 15 year old and they abscond to Utah. 5. Lisa Goes Gaga – I love Lady Gaga, but this was lazy star fucking at its worst. 6. The Musk Who Fell to Earth – Same as above, minus the charisma of Lady Gaga. The current staff is too old, too rich, and too out of touch with modern comedy. Al Jean was great when working with Mike Reiss, but Matt Selman is no Mike Reiss. The show is in desperate need of new blood. Almost anyone would likely be an improvement. Hell, just give the thing to Justin Roiland and see what he can do with it. To summarize, opinions are facts, and facts don’t care about your feelings. Debate me! (love you both <3)
