Added 2018-03-23 07:00:01 +0000 UTC
After a month of taking up space at Planet Express HQ, Fry is forced to find a new home, and finds an unlikely roommate in his robot pal, Bender. But their living situation quickly falls apart when it's revealed that Bender's antenna poses a serious problem when it comes to watching the continued adventures of All My Circuits. As always, we dig into the behind-the-scenes dirt on Futurama, including why Fox hated this episode specifically! Download this episode now and learn Calculon's terrible secret!
Listening to this three years after it went up and yes, "And Another Thing" is an AWFUL book.

Likely. Tons of animation back then was inspired by 50s and 60s aesthetics, especially on CN

I was wondering if the background art and alien character designs in episodes is inspired by earlier stuff. Sure there are loads of references to specific scifi movies and shows but did Groening want a aesthetic based on scifi in the 50s and 60s?

When Bender says "A little fire will show them who's boss." I always interpreted it as him saying the mutants don't have fire and when Fry and Bender show it to them, they will be kings of the underground.

MOAR TLC DISCUSSION
The remaining network soap operas are Young & The Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital.

Are Bob and Henry aware that English people ate mummies in Victorian times when they went to Egypt and took everything. Might be a reference to that.

The "Silmarillion" isn't fan fiction Henry! Tolkien had written the material before his death (starting it before the Lord of the Rings even) his son Christopher edited the different stories into a more readable volume.

Hot take: The B in Apt. 23 would’ve been the next New Girl, but the network didn’t see any potential in it and just outright cancel it.
I really liked it!

I don't think it's an homage or plagiarism, but All My Circuits reminds me so much of the soap opera "Robots" Kryten loves to watch in Red Dwarf. "Robots are people toooooooo..."

Regarding Bender's "alcoholism," we do find out in the episode where Bender goes to Robot Hell that the pure way for a robot to exist and is by consuming mineral oil instead of booze. So in a way, he can quit whenever he wants.

It seems like Matt was slightly conflating two episodes when talking about the antennas. Mother's Day is the one where Mom activates all the robots via their antennas so she can be supreme overlord of Earth, and Crimes of the Hot is the global warming one, but I don't think there's anything "antenna related" in that episode.

I'll be that guy and say that Eoin Cofler is pronounced like Owen Cofler. Speaking as someone who hails from Ireland it's always fun to see that the only people to ever break out and become famous have unpronounceable names to non Irish people. See Domhnall (pronounced Donal) Gleeson, Saoirse (pronounced seer-sha) Ronan and Bono which should be pronounced Bon-o but still to this day many pronounce Bo-no. As a bonus fact Eoin Cofler is the author of the Artemis Fowl series which has just began production on a film adaptation.

I really love the fake-out where you think Farnsworth is going to be disgusting by Fry eating the mummy, only to have his anger come from the fact that it was his meal. Plus, the callback later where he brings another one to Fry's housewarming makes me chuckle.

The miniature fruit tree is a really weird gag but I like how we get Amy slipping on the tiny banana peel and see Fry bring it with him back to Bender's "closet" at the end of the episode.

I also want to point out about the Robot Antennas being penises does pay off in the comedy central run where it turns out robots can reproduce by sending blueprints via the antennae. Also the term Matt was searching for is castration anxiety. This concludes my turn.

New JErsey Joke Story time: so I grew up just northeast of Philly but my mom's family is all from north jersey. While I was in gradschool I lived in Newark (its a huge city but google ivy hill if you wanna see where, the first result will be about a triple MS13 homicide) which is in essex county whereas my mom's family, though originally from Bayonne and Newark and the like, typically live in Morris county which is the more west and full of woods and trees and gamelands (yet everyone still lives on top of each other cuz jersey and land doesnt exist) but I was hanging with my cousins since they were only a 30 minute drive from my apartment and when my older cousin was telling my younger cousin where I live he said "Andrew lives in the part of New Jersey that the rest of the country THINKS is new jersey." And let me tell you, yes I fucking did.
