I never knew it was a thing either and I'm 6ft2 and 150kg. If they aren't serving a meal or the flight is less than 2 hours I think you're entitled to recline your seat. Just check the person behind doesn't have anything on their table.

2018-07-02 08:07:18 +0000 UTCI never knew reclining your seat in the plane is considered a social taboo until a few months ago when I saw a thread about it on Twitter. No one ever told me! And I'd never seen anyone complain about it before! I don't care if the person in front of me reclines -- in fact, it's helpful sometimes because it brings the in-flight entertainment screen closer to my face -- but then, I'm a shorty-short who always has plenty of legroom. I've been conscious about it ever since I saw that thread though, and now I don't do it anymore and feel bad about all the times I have. Incidentally, I always go for the aisle seat because I love to drink and have a tiny bladder.
