Talking Simpsons - The Mike Reiss Interview

Mike Reiss has worked on The Simpsons for more than three decades, as one of the first writers hired, as a co-showrunner of seasons 3 and 4, and as a producer giving input to this day on both the series and the film. Not only that, but he co-created The Critic and has written for animated feature films and now has a new book all about his life, Springfield Confidential (buy it here). Bob and Henry chat with Mr. Reiss for a whole hour about his long career, and we learn many Simpsons secrets and fun insights from a comedy legend. Listen and enjoy!

Comments

Just listened to this. It was very enjoyable and Mike told some Simpsons/Critic stories that I hadn't heard before in commentaries. Just one thing: Comparing Hank Hill to Homer Simpson in 2001 was pretty ignorant, though I understand being bitter. The fact that he's still flying that flag in 2018 is ludicrous. I wish you guys had pushed back just a bit..

It was nice that they didn’t try to start a debate or anything. It’s good interview etiquette.

His King of the Hill comment is a little frustrating and certainly comes off as though he maybe saw the first episode of the show and nothing more. I’m sure it was hard for you guys to just roll with that.
