What A Cartoon! - The August Schedule
Added 2018-07-30 19:01:00 +0000 UTC
Summer might be coming to an end—and frying most of the world with its ruthless heat—but the What A Cartoon! podcast will keep rolling along during the doggest of days. Here's what's next in our mad scheme to podcast about every cartoon EVER!
Disenchantment Review-cast [Patreon Date: 8/7/18 - Free Feed Date 8/7/18]
Due to our status as notable Simpsons dorks, we've acquired LEGAL access to the first five episodes of Disenchantment—graciously provided by Netflix—and on August 7th we'll finally be able to spill the beans! Well, some of the beans. Since this podcast will be launching before Disenchantment's official August 17th premiere, we won't be able to tell you everything. But we'll at least be able to give you our impressions of the series' first half. AND since this is such a big exclusive for us, we're offering it to Patrons and non-Patrons on the same day (but the dozens and dozens of bonus podcasts we're hoarding will still cost ya).
One-Punch Man - The Lone Cyborg [Patreon Date: 8/13/18 - Free Feed Date: 8/20/18]
After doing episodes on crossover anime hits like Cowboy Bebop and The Big O, it only made sense to tackle one of the latest Japanese series to catch fire in America: One-Punch Man. Though the premise of a dude who can destroy any opponent with one punch may seem pretty limited, this superhero spoof manages to get a lot of mileage out of the titular character's sheer strength. And did we mention the animation is amazing? Let us explain how great this series is before the long-awaited (and officially confirmed) second season launches sometime in the future! You can currently catch One-Punch Man streaming on both Netflix and Hulu.
Disenchantment - Episode 1 [Patreon Date: 8/20/18 - Free Feed Date: 8/27/18]
Since Disenchantment will be live to the Nextflixing public, OF COURSE we'll be doing an official What A Cartoon! episode about Matt Groening's first animated series since Futurama. Netflix hasn't shown the world too many cards, but all of the Futurama talent on board (including two of our favorite Simpsons writers, Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein) sure has us excited. Join us just a few days after the series' official launch as we explore the pilot with our usual assortment of clips, and we'll decide if this first go sets up a world that'll keep us on board for the next nine episodes of the first season.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series - The Menace of Mysterio [Patreon Date: 8/27/18 - Free Feed Date: 9/3/18]
Spider-Man's '90s series might not have hit the same artistic heights as Batman's '90s show, but it certainly had a lot of fun adapting 30-plus years of Spidey comics to the small screen. Years before the grandeur of Sam Raimi's trilogy, '90s kids only had this Saban series to subsist on, and the episode in question is a great example of the campy fun the creators had with very little money at their fingertips. Plus, this podcast episode features two certified Spider-Fans whose Spider Senses can't stop tingling! (Thankfully it didn't interrupt the recording.) Spider-Man TAS isn't streaming anywhere, but you can still buy individual episodes on iTunes and Amazon.
Those are the next four podcasts we're doing on What A Cartoon! so feel free to start watching ahead at your leisure. As always, you'll hear all of these a week early and ad-free if you're a Patreon supporter! And don't forget, if you want to watch Hulu with a free 30-day trial that helps support our podcast, you could always sign up at tiny.cc/tshulu!

2018-08-01 22:40:45 +0000 UTCNo, the Tick episode is being posted the previous day. The Disenchantment special is a one-off we're doing on a special day that won't affect the schedule.
