What A Cartoon! - The Tick "The Tick Vs The Tick"

If there's anything I love about Edlund (and McCullough) it's their endless bank of clever superhero/villain names. In response to your query, El Seed is likely named after "El Cid," a medieval Spanish hero. I wish I could say that I know this due to our country's education system, but in my hometown of Annapolis, a diner had a 16-scoop ice cream sundae called the El Cid which me and 8 others conquered post-college.

Fox didn't do too badly by The Tick. That 11:30 AM timeslot was right after X-Men and being on later meant it was for slightly older audiences since older kids tend to sleep-in on Saturday (or at least my sister and I did the older we got). Even still, as a kid I found the show funny but I also found it hard for the show to hold my attention for the entire half hour duration. I think part of that was I was such a huge X-Men fan and waiting until 11 for that show sometimes felt arduous. Once it was over I'd have a come-down of sorts and my mind would start to focus on the rest of my day and less on television. It's a show I definitely appreciate more as an adult with extreme super hero fatigue and I think it's great the property has had a second and third chance as a live-action show. What I would really prefer though is a proper compendium release for the entire cartoon that restores the missing episodes and maybe adds a few bells and whistles. Absent the Prime series unexpectedly becoming a massive success, I'd say that chances of any such release are slim at best.
