What A Cartoon! - September Podcast Schedule!

Labor Day is just around the corner and What A Cartoon! is podcasting this fall up RIGHT! What's to come in September? Our first taste of Disney Afternoon, our first episode about an '80s action figure classic, more Marvel '90s comic toons, an anime murder mystery, and another Adult Swim original!! What a wild month of animation, so here's the schedule in case you want to prepare your viewing ahead of time!!!

Darkwing Duck - Life, The Negaverse, And Everything Else [Patreon Date: 9/3/18 - Free Feed Date 9/10/18]

Can you believe it took us a few dozen episodes to finally do a '90s Disney series? Well, this one was definitely worth the wait as we delve into the 35th episode of Darkwing Duck. We chat about DW travelling to the Negaverse and facing some of his greatest villains all in the same episode! It's not officially on any streaming service, though you can find the episode on the second volume of DVDs (or find Darkwing Duck on other less official websites via a quick Google search).

G.I. Joe - There's No Place Like Springfield Part 1 & 2 [Patreon Date: 9/10/18 - Free Feed Date: 9/17/18]

This month also sees What A Cartoon! cover its first cartoon from the mid-'80s, and it's the toyetic G.I. Joe! For a series designed to sell action figures, this show goes to much darker places than you'd expect, especially in this classic two-parter starring Shipwreck (not to be confused with Shore Leave). We'll explain the series history and its deep connection to Marvel Comics, and the episodes are currently available to buy on Amazon.

X-Men: The Animated Series - Out Of The Past Part 1 [Patreon Date: 9/17/18 - Free Feed Date: 9/24/18]

Batman wasn't the only superhero making a splash on Fox Kids' Saturday mornings. We check out Marvel's Merry Mutants this September as we look back at the 1992 animated series. Released at the height of the X-Men's popularity, this show and the connected toy line were huge hits, and we're taking a close look at the third season premiere of the series featuring Wolverine and his old Japanese girlfriend. You can find the episode on both Amazon and iTunes.

Case Closed/Detective Conan - Jack Attacks! [Patreon Date: 9/24/18 - Free Feed Date: 10/01/18]

What anime are we covering in September? Why, none other than the world's greatest child detective. Detective Conan (aka Case Closed) is a favorite of ours and we delve into one of the earliest episodes about a deadly dog. We're watching episode 27 "Jack Attacks" or the original Japanese translation "Pet Dog John Murder Case." You can find it on the first disc of the second season DVD set, or on some of the less traveled parts of the internet. Either way, One Truth Prevails!

Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law - A Very Personal Injury [Patreon Date: 10/1/18 - Free Feed Date: 10/8/18]

Lastly, we close out the month with another Adult Swim classic, Harvey Birdman. We go into the long history of this Alex Toth creation, and how he became one of the funniest sad sacks in cartoons. The series explored Hanna-Barbera history one lawsuit at a time, and we explore his second one ever involving Apache Chief and hot coffee. You can take the case for yourself on Hulu or the very affordable DVD set.

And that's all five What A Cartoon! podcast you'll be listening to in September. As always, you'll hear every one of them a week early and ad-free if you're a Patreon supporter! And don't forget, if you want to watch Hulu with a free 30-day trial that helps support our podcast, you could always sign up at tiny.cc/tshulu!
