Talking Simpsons - The Bill Morrison Interview

Bill Morrison is the writer and artist behind so many pieces of Simpsons and Futurama art you've seen. From early covers to Simpsons video games or the art for calendars, to the first time the Simpsons appeared in comic book form in the magazine Simpsons Illustrated or the very first Bongo Comics. Bill Morrison was also an early designer and art director helping define Futurama's look before the series even began. Bill did all that and more, which he details for us all in this brand new interview just for the Talking Simpsons Network!

And if this makes you want to get any of Bill's comics, here are some good picks:

Bill's recent Yellow Submarine adaptation

The first collection of Simpsons Comics

The first collection of Bartman Comics

The first collection of Radioactive Man

Bill Morrison's original creation, Roswell

And, of course, check out all the great work happening at the new Mad Magazine that Bill is overseeing!

Great interview! When Bill mentioned doing Disney artwork I wondered if he was the artist for the notorious Little Mermaid castle. It was indeed his! But Google also reveals he’s been asked about it so many times so I’m glad you didn’t bring it up.

Mike Mariano

wow, that's crazy.

Frank Grimes

Also I was nodding internally throughout his entire explanation of how many strict rules there are in the Simpsons style that probably no one who hadn't drawn for them officially would notice. Like the teeth lines having to fan inwards into the neck, there are subtle things I look out for every time I see something like a Simpsons tattoo to see how off-model it is.
