I've never been a dog person because my mom was terrified of dogs in a very irrational way. I don't mind dogs but I've never owned one and to me it just seems like a lot of work and time that aren't worth the perceived benefits (yeah, unconditional love, whatever lol). So as a kid I really liked this episode because it created a fantasy of this extremely well behaved dog that actually did something useful. Rewatching it today I definitely agree with most of the negative comments, but it will forever be legendary for me because of the goldfish joke.
