Great episode! I just wanted to mention that Heidi wasn’t as obscure in the West as Henry says. My grandparents gave me a copy as a child in the 80s. I also remember frequently seeing it shelved at the book store. Lots of film & tv adaptations too! It’s less an obscure title as a book which used to have more cultural currency than it does today. Thanks again for the awesome podcasts!

2022-11-04 04:59:59 +0000 UTCJust pledged 10 dollars and went straight for this podcast. Kiki is my second favorite of the Ghibli movies, the first one being Castle in the Sky. I'm also Spanish, so imagine trying to recommend those to friends. I work as an artist so all the things in the movie and the podcast talking about being creative really resonated with me, specially since I listen to these at work. I hope you get to Castle in the Sky one day, even if there's other Ghibli movies that probably take precedence. I love that movie with all my heart. (Ah, also as a side note, Heidi and Marco were plenty popular over here, I'm sure they are also popular in other European countries)
