What A Cartoon! - The February Schedule

We're only one month into 2019 and things are really heating up for the Talking Simpsons Network! First off, our subscribers have voted on the subject for our first miniseries of 2019, and it's none other than season one of King of the Hill! Expect TalKing of the Hill—12 episodes of us giving Mike Judge's mega-hot the Talking Simpsons treatment—to roll out sometime in March for Talking Simpsons Network subscribers at the $5+ level. (And you can listen to the pilot right here for free!)

While you're waiting for our next miniseries to launch, as always, we have a great and varied selection of animated shows for our What A Cartoon podcast coming up in February! And if you're not a subscriber, signing up at the $5 level will get you each episode a week ahead of time, and ad-free, along with our previous exclusive miniseries and dozens and dozens of bonus podcasts on top of that.

Here's what's on the schedule for February:

Mobile Suit Gundam - "Garma's Fate" [Patreon Date: 2/4/19 - Free Feed Date 2/11/19]

We're going all the way back to OG Gundam for our oldest subject matter to date on What A Cartoon! That's right, to kick off the month of February, we'll be taking a trip back to the '70s for the anime that turned giant robot adventures from kid stuff to serious adult dramas. And we'll have a certified Gundam expert as our special guest to help explain the history of this legendary series, and its impact on the medium as a whole! Mobile Suit Gundam currently isn't streaming anywhere, but the entire series is available on Blu-Ray.

Hey Arnold! - "Spelling Bee/Pigeon Man" [Patreon Date: 2/11/19 - Free Feed Date 2/18/19]

We've covered many Nicktoons to date, so it's only fair that we let our '90s kids spirit shine once again with a look at the heartwarming inner-city adventures of Hey Arnold. Craig Bartlett's football-headed boy (years before Stewie Griffin) has a surprisingly long history that even intertwines with The Simpsons, and we explore it and a surprisingly touching episode about an outsider in Arnold's world. You can currently find ALL of Hey Arnold on Hulu. (And if you want a free 30-day trial of Hulu, sign up here!)

The Amazing World of Gumball - "The Box/The Console" [Patreon Date: 2/18/19 - Free Feed Date 2/25/19]

Though it doesn't have the same kind of clout as Adventure Time and Steven Universe, The Amazing World of Gumball has been a quietly brilliant show for six seasons and a whopping 226 episodes now. And this younger-skewing show isn't afraid to cater the to tastes of 30-something podcast hosts with episodes like "The Console," which completely sends up old-school RPGs with lots of great jokes and Gumball's signature stylish animation. You can currently find ALL of The Amazing World of Gumball on Hulu.

Homestar Runner - "Strong Bad Email: Army/Jail Cartoon" [Patreon Date: 2/25/19 - Free Feed Date 3/4/19]

We're entering the brave new (well, old) world of webtoons as we explore the uncharted territory of Homestar Runner for our final February episode! If you ever entered a college campus at some point in the early '00s you're likely aware of Homestar Runner and his antics, as every computer in a dorm room was required by law to play at least one of his cartoons daily. And we'll be digging into some of his greatest episodes at the request of one of our high-level patrons! You can currently find all of Homestar Runner on the internet. Just look for it—it's there!

We've got quite a lineup of podcasts ahead of us, and this isn't even counting February's episode of the What A Cartoon Movie for $10+ patrons. Stick with us, because there'll be more fun to come, and TalKing of the Hill will be launching before you know it!

Comments

I'm so jazzed to see Homestar Runner. It still holds up quite well and even the newer skits are still pretty funny. High recommendation for "Characters from Yonder Website." I hope we cover lots of the different tunes on HSR including Teen Girl Squad, Halloweeny Tunes, and etc. Hey Arnold is also a perfect choice for WAC. There's a lot of great choices, but Pigeon Man is probably the earliest most poignant episode. Helga Pataki is also the best tsundere ever made.

I'm SO for Gumball! No joke it's easily the cartoon that's made me consistently laugh the hardest out of any modern series.
