I don't know how it happened, but the subject of religion and the afterlife came up on a car ride I was having with my family when I was in college. I shared, apparently for the first time, my atheist or agnostic beliefs and my parents were confused. I remember my dad, kind of agitated, pointing out my grandpa was a smart person and he believed in God. When I told him faith has nothing to do with intelligence it just seemed to irritate him more and we've basically never talked about it since (this was probably 15+ years ago now). That exchange was uncomfortable, so I'm glad I never really went through the phase Lisa is in during this episode where I felt like I had to spread "the gospel" of atheism. This episode is very similar to Lisa The Vegetarian where Lisa is convinced since she's on the side of right, but is frustrated when swaying the others. I think this one works better though and it might be my favorite episode of Season 9.
