If Henry wants to play Water Damage Poker then I will see his story and raise him mine. One night me and my wife visited friends out of town for a night of drinking and board games. We arrived home at 2am to find one of the supply lines to our kitchen sink had burst and had been flooding the house for presumably hours. The next morning a water mitigation company and a general contractor began the month long process of removing all the hardwood floors in my house and setting up industrial size blowers and dehumidifiers which raised the temperature of the house to 130 degrees and necessitated a few days in a hotel. We had no kitchen for two weeks and were relegated to our bedroom while the rest of the house was repaired. In the end we had new hardwood laid throughout the house, new tile in the bathroom, new ductwork for the A/C and a new granite counter in the bathroom since they broke the old one removing it. Hard to believe a three dollar hose caused $35,000 in damages that b/c of homeowners insurance we were thankfully only on the hook for $1200. On a side note, I can identify with the episode of KotH, "Mutual of OmaBwah" a lot more now

Rich Hall is more known in Europe I think. He used to be pretty regular on the BBC show QI. He sometimes jokes about his looks, but in my opinion his comedy is more about being an American, which goes over well with an European audience. My wife and I went to one of his shows here in Norway earlier this year and it was very funny. I even got to go on stage and participate in a song with him.

If you're looking for a Tiki bar in the Bay, have you tried Trader Vics in Emeryville?

Disappointed Bob didn't get in a single "my girlfriend who lives in Canada" joke this whole time. Nerd card revoked!

Yeah I did NOT put 2 and 2 together, that being said "WHY BOB AND NINA ARE TOGETHER! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT THEY HAVE A FAIRYBOOK ROMANCE!"

Imagine what Bob & Nina's reaction will be when they get to the episode where Comic Book Guy is given a Japanese Girlfriend in about 10 or so years.
But seriously, wishing the best for Bob and Nina.

"Bob has a funny attractive Japanese girlfriend who does martial arts and draws comicbooks but she's from Canada and you don't know her. One thing's for certain though...she is real."

I don't really comment on these comment sections despite being a patron, though I do read them from time to time.
Anyway, I just wanted to add that this was an incredible observation and that I want the hosts to read it aloud on the next Talk to the Audience!? episode.

on the opposite side of the spectrum, I love getting lost down the lore holes. I could listen to rambling entertainment knowledge for hours!

I had no idea about bob and nina, for you see, I have been on Mars for the last decade in a cave with my eyes shut and my fingers in my ears

Congratulations to Bob and Nina. Quite possibly the first non-fictional Canadian girlfriend in Nerd History!

Believe me, I’m very self-conscious about this and have apologized to Bob and Henry many times for it. I actually held back on saying a lot of things and skipped some notes for this ep in an attempt to keep it around 2 hours, and was mortified when the recording ended up being my longest one yet. (Not trying to make you feel bad or anything — just letting you and others reading this know that I’m painfully aware and have brought it up with them. Thanks for the kind words though!)

Congratulations all around for the now public relationship. My gossipy instinctss were right! I do have a small issue/comment though (not on the relationship) episodes with Nina tend to go on for quite a while, and you get sidetracked quite a bit, making it a bit of a slog for me to listen to. This isn't a knock against anyone but I do want to just let you know. Again congratulations.

I hope you got some crab last time you visited Magfest/will next time. Maryland goes in hard on its reputation for having real good seafood, especially that!

Here is an excellent article that just came out right on time for this episode about men and women and marriage and money. It's chock full of stats and analysis. Highlights: men are still often thought of as the breadwinner in a relationship, mostly by other men, and men have incredibly fragile egos about how much money they earn vs their wives. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/can-american-men-ever-be-happy-if-their-wives-earn-more-than-they-do-2019-04-29
