Talk to the Audience?!? Episode 25

Woo hoo! We just celebrated the second anniversary of our Patreon! And to kick off this third year of Talking Simpsons Network podcasts, it's time for this month's episode of Talk to the Audience?!? As has been the case for the last few installments, we dish about the most recent Simpsons/Disney news, then move on to discuss the latest Simpsons game announcement, the upcoming 31st season premiere, and the recent live-action Aladdin remake. And, of course, we respond to your questions and comments from the latest round of episodes. Thanks again for all of your support! We can't wait to bring you another year of great podcasts!

Talk to the Audience?!? Episode 25

So some issues with how you discussed the new Lion King... the Rotten Tomatoes video literally just said the animation had “evolved” which it has. Evolution literally means a change over time, but people misunderstand it as meaning “to improve.” Also, please don’t downplay the extraordinary amount of work that goes into realistic 3D animation. Even if it’s not your preference, it is still an incredible art form that takes a lot of effort by tons of talented artists.

As an impression its pretty flair, but just repeating Bernie's own catchphrases I don't think is entertaining. I'm sorry I don't mean to be such a negative Nellie in sector 2, don't feel bad or change because of this midwest yahoo's dislike of impressions

Nico

Maurice LaMarche has ruined me. Every time I heard you say "In July", all I could think was "Peas grow there"

Stephan Jive Turkey Kuwabara

The We Hate Movies podcast embraces this philosophy

With Impressions, it really doesn't matter if it's good or bad, so long as its entertaining. For the record, I find your Bernie impression to be just that.

Curtis Bostick

I like getting strawberry, mixing them as well as some sort of chocolate in I like the texture differences and the variety of flavors

Kris

SAME. They are my go-to topping. They make the dessert last longer.

Wait, did he pronounce the middle “T?” I am NOT from Toronto, but go there for work sometimes, and the last time I was there, I was taking to a coworker while walking downtown one morning and I kept referring to the city, pronouncing said middle T, and the man walking ahead of us, who had previously been screaming obscenities to no one in particular, turned around and looked at me and said “It’s TOR-ON-O. NOT TOR-ON-TO. DO YOU WANT TO DIE? DO YOU WANT TO DIE IN TOR-ON-O, BITCH?!” (Do you want to die in Toronto [middle T Un-pronounced) is now a beloved, oft-used phrase among my close friends and I, and I (mostly) remember to only annunciate the first and last now.)

Kat Heagberg

Sounds like a GREAT idea for a What a Cartoon Movie poll "Bob's Never Seen..."

Kiefer Fulsom

I have been told my Bernie impression is good so now I'm conflicted...

Bob Mackey

Bob your getting your Futurama jokes mixed up. The joke you reference isn't from the Mars Uni ep and isnt even about a monkey, when Farnsworth is gonna show the crew his prized Mummy and it turns out Fry eat he exclaims: "I was going to eat that mummy". In the Mars Uni ep Farnsworth is briefly saddened by gunters apparent death but then indicates he wants to eat his body. Also please stop doing Bernie impressions

Nico

I like Gummi beats in ice cream.... Particularly because of how they freeze

Kris

Fucking Heritage Minutes. Canadian propaganda at its "finest," which makes us look so cute compared to other countries that jerk themselves off to revisionist histories in more direct ways

Dylan (batmanboy11) Freitag

Tyranny of Tapped Out is the perfect name for this era.

- Your pronunciation of "Toronto" is very funny. - My read on the "and therefore most trustworthy" joke in Trouble with Trillions is a little different. I always thought the joke wasn't exactly lampooning the idea that wealth implies virtue but rather the idea that the US government would naively assume someone already so super-wealthy would be immune to further greed. - Disparagement of our Heritage Minutes is probably technically an act of war.

Hey Bob and Henry! Finally got around to checking out your Patreon! Some fantastic extra goodies well worth the money. Wanted to ask if the US broadcast of the show deals with so many cuts/edits like the UK broadcast (my home nation). Channel 4 loves cutting out crucial jokes, leaving many without punchlines or context to punchlines. Albeit, it goes out typically at 6pm, it seems they overdo it with the censoring and butcher some classic gems. Keep up the great work! I also started a Simpsons pod nearly a year ago (Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag Podcast), if you have the chance please check it out, me and my co-host use a random episode generator and review seasons 1-12 https://soundcloud.com/user-547387910 Best of luck guys!

I'd argue the lack of pop culture in live action aladdin was to make it more "realistic" but on the other hand, during Friend like Me when they beatbox, is sort of a pop culture reference, since Will's a rapper...and Iago, while he didn't talk extensively still helped plot against Aladdin. He still alerted Jafaar in the same sequence when he was pushed to drown.

Frank Grimes

Sincerely, a Tapped Out player (sorry)

Tapped Out Royale isn't even anything new gameplay wise, it's just a new event that parodies games, in general, that they tacked "Royale" onto as a joke

Oh btw you guys made a little bit of a mistake in this recap. It's not a big deal but figure I should just point it out so you don't accidentally do this in the future. When you guys said "Okay onto comments from Lost Our Lisa" you guys just read two more comments from the King of the Hill episode instead.
