I never took Moe telling everyone to throw rocks at Homer as him not knowing or recognizing Homer, I always took it as him saying Homer is a nobody because he’s not famous.

I'm glad you're able to find the good in this ep, because man oh man have we entered the Crap Zone

Great podcast! Enjoyed the different perspectives on the show from your guests. The only thing I didn't quite get a sense of is how you two feel about the episode versus the rest of season ten. It feels like such a marked point of decline for me (guest star overload, outlandish plot, no real emotional element to the story), and I'd love to hear more on what you think about all that.

only wish that particular cameo would have led to something other than an, "oh look moment"

Not to mention Leonardo Leonardo on Clerks

The one Bruce Springsteen comedy role I can think of is his cameo in High Fidelity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZE7OchG3DY I drank a ton of Royal Crown Cola as a kid because independent pizza places in the Chicago area would give away a liter of it with a large pizza. My brother and I would always fight over who would get the honor of claiming this generic tasting cola. I don't think the idea of sharing it crossed our minds.

As a huge Clone Wars fan Solo gets props from me just for *that* cameo towards the end of the film.

I prefer the more intimate feel of just you guys and a guest but I'm glad that other people enjoyed it.

To put my two cents in, I loved the guests, in particular, I loved that they laughed out loud. I know we've all seen these episodes 10^9 times, but it is genuinely fun to hear people laugh at The Simpsons.

disney should make homer's film. A Talking Pie starring Alec Baldwin, directed by Ron Howard would do End Game numbers. Hell, make it part of MCu Phase 5

the name part was my favorite part of the movie, lol.

Okay so you guys have brought up this multiple times, I've wanted to comment on it but I always thought of something else to comment on first, but now it's time. Just like your guess in this episode, I too really like the Solo movie. I definitely don't say that in terms of it being some high quality masterpiece, but rather a dumb fun movie. The parts that everyone complains about, naming him Solo and naming Chewy, I laughed super hard at and got super pumped for the rest of the movie, wondering what other awesomely-stupid thing was coming next. This is not a movie that should never be taken seriously, and because I didn't, I had so much fun.

The Berenstein Bears have at least two books that mention watermelon stealing but I guess that makes sense since the authors were really old when they were written.

I enjoyed the guests, as it's always fun to get some fresh perspective from people who haven't had their brains broken by Simpsons quotes for 20+ years. That said, this episode has plenty of funny lines, but it's just kind of a mess structurally. I don't know if it's the writers or the showrunner but the show just gets so much looser this season in terms of just being a cartoon for children instead of a satire. The "celebrity episode" starts becoming a regular episode structure, and it's almost always a mess. Also as funny as Ron Howard is, I think Basinger and Baldwin do a very good job with the material they have. I don't think it was mentioned, but Baldwin does come back, not as himself, and ignoring Boss Baby, has also done VO work for stuff like Royal Tenenbaums.

Congrats on the (future) move to Vancouver, Bob!

RC Cola to me was the cola of choice for bowling alleys and arcades when I was a kid. To this day I associate it with playing old beat-em-up games.
