Vote On The September 2019 What A Cartoon Movie!

We hope you're enjoying your Labor Day weekend (or just your regular weekend if you don't have that where you live). We've got a big month of podcasts coming your way, and that includes the What A Cartoon Movie!
As usual, September will feature a brand new movie podcast discussion exclusively for our $10+ supporters, and we ask for your help to choose! And we open up the voting to our $5 patrons as well because we want you to have a voice in case you want to upgrade and listen to any of these in the future. And this month, after taking some time off from anime films, we're choosing from one of four movies of Japanese animation. But to make things even more fresh, no Ghibli films this time, just because we love to celebrate movies from beyond the works of Hayao Miyazaki.
And so, the four picks for a classic Non-Ghibli anime film podcast are:
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, the 2001 followup to the cult hit series
1997's The End of Evangelion, which concluded the megabit series in a very controversial fashion
Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell adaptation from 1995 that influenced countless people
Your Name, the 2015 smash hit that took a simple body-swapping concept to surprising places

2019-09-01 22:05:39 +0000 UTCSome pretty incredible choices on here (I didn't much care for Your Name, to be honest) but Ghost in the Shell is definitely the one I'm rooting for here. CB and Eva are both hugely influential but we've had episodes on both franchises in the main podcast so I'm hoping GitS gets a chance to shine. Also Ghost In The Shell was so goddamn influential on media both in Japan AND the USA. It IS Cyberpunk. And without GitS we probably wouldn't have The Matrix. It's just an incredible franchise.
