2020-04-26 13:20:23 +0000 UTCI hadn't seen this episode in YEARS before revisiting it for the podcast and it does hold up a lot better than my memories of it would suggest. As a kid, I always disliked this episode and was kind of bored by it. I'm not totally sure why - maybe because it was a weird mix of the more zany, cartoony Simpsons we'd get in later years but with season 1 animation and plotting, or that it just reminded me too much of Hannah-Barbera, but as an adult it's pretty good. I don't think I'd say it's my favourite episode of the season, but it has some great jokes and the only bit that really drags (IMO) is the Maggie bit, which is very much like the shorts, as you guys pointed out.
