What A Cartoon! - Back to the Future "Brothers"

When the Back to the Future Trilogy wrapped up in 1990, the time-traveling antics of Marty McFly and Doc Brown seemed destined for an episodic TV series. And it would eventually see one the following year, though this animated show wasn't a shameless cash-in. Overseen by BTTF scribe Bob Gale, and featuring live-action segments with Christopher Lloyd himself, this cartoon offered a level of quality far greater than what could have been—even if the focus on Doc's sons hold it back. On this episode, BTTF superfan Dave Rudden joins us as we discuss the debut episode, "Brothers."
Having Biff's Civil War ancestor named Beauregard puts this in canon with the Telltale game, where we meet him in 1876 Hill Valley.

Yay for the return of Diamond Dog Dave Rudden!

I came to Back to the Future late, only watching them for the first time when I was 13 or 14, but I immediately fell in love with them pretty quickly, even if my opinions have changed somewhat since then (i.e. I now think 3 is pretty great and prefer it over 2 for the most part). That being said, I'd never watched the cartoon at all. Putting this on, I was immediately... disturbed by the cover of BACK IN TIME that was playing, and then everything felt good and normal again once Christopher Lloyd shows up on screen. As goofy and insane as this show is, I think I have to kind of love it, if for no other reasons than that it gave us more Lloyd as Doc Brown, and for helping Bill Nye become THE SCIENCE GUY. And while I do like Back in Time, I will agree that it's lyrics are nonsense, and as far as I'm concerned, the Bill & Ted cartoon wins in the theme song category.
