Living in rural canada my grand parents only had two channels. It must have played on the wonderful world of disney on cbc because hearing the opening dah da dah da dunn of the Thames logo gave me chills. The theme song then, brought the textured image of their cheap wool carpet vividly back to me. I cant remember anything else about the show other than how much i loved the creepy puppets.
2020-11-19 03:44:03 +0000 UTCI had about no context for this show going into it, and it's complete and utter Britishness (in a stiff upper lip sense) created enough of a melancholy sense to it that it actually made me kind of sad while watching it. I'm not sure what specifically about it triggered that in me, but it just kinda gave me the sense I had as a kid watching random television on a sick day rather than doing something fun to pass the time, since I would desperately not want to go back to school the next day, and would try to make the hours pass as slow as I could (I am aware of how fucking bizarre that sounds).
