2021-07-30 20:49:31 +0000 UTCI watched the entirety of Evangelion including this movie and the three rebuild films because of WAC's original episode on it back in 2019 (thanks to Netflix putting them up so I could actually watch the damn thing) and have since become kind of obsessed with it. I've only seen this movie twice now, and I have so many damn feelings about it that I immediately understood how this could take the cake as the longest WAC Movie episode yet. Ultimately, I think it's mostly a much better finale than the aired episodes 25 & 26, but it does get frustratingly slow and obtuse in the second half. It's the kind of thing that when I originally watched it and I was left mostly wondering "what the fuck?" and thinking maybe I was just dumb for not understanding it. Revisiting it helped me understand it more, and you guys certainly illuminated a lot, and now I'm definitely more on the camp of it's just confusing or intentionally combative in following up on the show's lore, which does make it very imperfect, but I'll still definitely watch it again in the future. I really hope you guys do the rebuild films in the future, and I'm so curious to hear what you'd have to say about the third one because I think it might actually be my least favourite part of the franchise (that I've ingested, anyway).
