I'm yet to listen to this ep (I want to rewatch the film first, it's probably my favorite Ghibli film!) but THANKYOU Henry for an ancient Miyazaki interview you linked on Xitter. Really fascinating to see what a younger, less-grumpy Miyazaki had to say reflecting on his films. It was very interesting to learn that he didn't particularly have a technical or even experience-driven love of flying, moreso the aesthetics and idea of it! Plenty of left field answers from him that didn't line up with assumptions about themes and subjects in his films!
