An American Tale just happens to take place in a particular time period and is about the experience of one particular group in America (in this case, Jewish immigrants). I don’t see how that’s a problem. I think the idea that a movie is somehow obligated to represent the experience of every single immigrant or marginalized group, as Henry seemed to suggest, is unfair and unrealistic.

2025-04-12 02:08:02 +0000 UTCI was only 3 when this movie came out, so I definitely don’t remember seeing it in the theater. However, I did occasionally watch it as a kid on VHS and I vividly remember seeing the sequel, Fivel Goes West, in the theater and the Pizza Hut promotion. Pat Musick was also the voice of Fluffy and Uranus on Duckman.
