Talk To The Audience?!? - March 2025

We've reached the end of the month, which means it's once again time for another installment of our community podcast! Join us as we scrape together what little news we can during this ongoing Simpsons drought, check in on Disney+'s new 24-hour Simpsons stream, and celebrate the second revival of American Dad. And, as always, we read and respond to your questions and comments from the most recent round of episodes. It's all happening on this month's Talk to the Audience: the only podcast that advocates for the decline of heavy sack beatings.

Smeg isn't a fictional word. It's an abbreviated form of Smegma.

I'm so excited for the Back in Action episode. I found a sealed VHS copy of this movie at my parents' house not too long ago but haven't watched it yet, so this will be the perfect excuse.

I'm a complete boomer, how do I access the discord?

This was the month I finally caught up to my backlog. In 2021 I ended up living 10 minutes from the office and crushed my podcast listening abilities from my commute - I fell as far back as a year and a half behind, and now, the world is my oyster

To add: As a lifelong turbo-nerd, I can confirm woodworking is one of the nerdiest rabbit holes you can jump into. It's weird how "shop" was always jock-coded, because you're really just doing math and playing with gadgets all day.

I spend most of my days fixing/restoring vintage arcade machines, so you can add me to the list of patreons who need something to listen to while woodworking. There are dozens of us!

Interesting that we got a “We Hate Movies” episode and a “Talk to the Audience” episode back to back talking about smeg.

Great lineup next month. For Looney Tunes, Back in Action, you should read the moment in Fraser’s 2018 GQ interview where he discusses getting to punch himself in the movie, saying “I think I wanted to knock myself out. I wanted to take the piss out of myself before someone else would, 'cause I had it in my head that I had it coming.” https://www.gq.com/story/what-ever-happened-to-brendan-fraser

I'm planning a trip to Japan for the first time in November. Does anyone know what Talk to the Audience episodes Bob and Henry talk about their trip experiences? Or if anyone has other cool Japan recommendations let me know below!

looking forward to hearing about Red Dwarf but once again surprised at no coverage for Dinosaurs yet.

Can’t wait for your Red Dwarf podcast one of my favourite shows

The space needle is nice and all, but you haven’t seen anything until you’ve visited the Sunsphere in Knoxville, Tennessee. https://trueadventurestories.com/2018/07/18/simpsons-wigsphere-knoxville/

Thanks for responding to my comment guys! The Oscars look hopeful since they've confirmed Conan for next year, so here's hoping many fun years of him (and Scott Giardner) for years! Also it wasn't brought up, but since "Flow" won for Best Animated Feature, I think it's fair to say we can put a moratorium on any "Disney/Pixar always wins" chatter for that category. They've lost 3 years in a row now. And considering that Flow is pretty much the antithesis of everything in mainstream American animation as a silent, foreign-film; that really shows how the voting body for the awards has really changed.

I met Eric Bauza at the premiere of Day the Earth Blew Up and he was just as wonderful as you'd imagine. He spent most of his time telling me how anxious he was about the possibility of him shouting "release Coyote Vs Acme" onstage and on video ruining his career. Glad this movie that celebrates the medium of hand-drawn animation had a star who holds those same views. Also, "The Flandshees of Innersimpson" sounds like a Rick and Morty-style title.
