At the mention of her husband, Rebecca’s expression draws down into a pained frown. Her eyes shine for a moment, but she drops her gaze to her hands folded neatly in her lap, and blinks it away.
She flicks her once again professional gaze back up. “That I love him.” Her voice catches. “So very much.”
From beside her, Felix places a comforting hand on her shoulder with sympathy deepening the bright amber shade of his eyes.
She turns away from the offered gesture, yet doesn’t shrug it off.
