I tilt my head. "You know, I'm really not that great with metaphors."
"It was a statement, not a metaphor," ${a_she} replies as ${a_she} lifts a brow.
"Well, I think we both know that's not true," I scoff. "Your entire vocabulary seems to come in some form of metaphor. Why not just say what you're thinking? Clearly?"
$!{a_she} slowly pulls our joined hands down between us. "Because saying what I truly think, what I truly feel, would do neither of us any good."
I tighten my fingers around ${a_his}/s for a moment. "Do you really believe that? Really?"
$!{a_his} brows knot together as ${a_she} scowls at me. "If you are so keen to share, then why have you not spoken clearly on your thoughts either?"
My gaze darts away at the question.
A loud clonk! thankfully breaks through the thundering atmosphere that had begun to cast over us.
