Eric smiles before leaning in, flicking back a curl of bright blonde hair from his eyes as he half-cups his mouth. "Don't tell Sol, but it took some time to work out he was the 'One'." He leans back with a chuckle. "I'm not sure if you've noticed, but he can…make quite the unique first impression."
"I was out walking one day, minding my own business, enjoying what little sun can make it through the plumes of pollution that cover the Big City's sky, when—out of nowhere—a car bumps the kerb and clips me." He winces at the memory, grabbing at his arm as though the wound still exists. "I go down hard." He spreads out a palm. "Rather dramatically, I admit. Blood is gushing everywhere as the car speeds away, and I'm left laying on the pavement. Alone and injured."
His expression lights with a smile that fills his gaze with warmth. "Until Sol appeared, like some healing angel." His brows furrow. "An angel with a hell of a lot of commands. 'Lay this way. Hold the wound. Don't move. Do this. Do that.' As someone who isn't overly keen on being ordered about, you can imagine how that went," he says, laughing as he leans back in his chair, shaking his head with a reflective sigh. "We didn't hit it off straight away—or, at least, so I thought."
"When I insisted on not visiting a hospital, we argued heatedly until he insisted on seeing me home." He sucks in his lower lip, a slight flush of pink forming across his nose. "I didn't have the heart to refuse, and by the time we made it home…Well, let's just say he was very thorough in checking me over."
