Acrylics on watercolour paper.

First step was a quick sketch to lay everything out.

The underpainting is a wash of burnt umber to stain the paper. Then a mix of purple and burnt umber to place the shadows. I use water to dilute the paint so I get a water colour effect.
If you are working on canvas and are using thicker paint please use a medium extender it will save you headaches in the end.

From the under painting I started working on the skin tones and lighting. I used a light yellow, a sap green, & hunter green. (Please note I used really cheap paint for this )

Working in more areas and lighting.

From here I was adding I. Details after doing the base coats for every thing.
Big to small, dark to light.
Acrylics are not scary and are less toxic than oils. Also you can work a lot faster with them.

Final.
