There's a good amount of satire of Disney in this movie, like the information display that's a parody of It's a Small World, or Fiona's song that makes the bird explode. But there's a lot more wide-ranging satire in the second movie, which I really hope you will see. The name Shrek, by the way, is presumably derived from the identically pronounced German word schreck, which means terror. Your kiss during the outro was so sweet, although clearly neither of you was ever a frog - speaking of which, the only instance I know where a fairy tale princess turns into something at night is the Russian princess Vasilisa, who is enchanted by Kaschchei the Deathless to turn into a frog at night. I think this is pretty certainly the inspiration for Swan Lake, where the very Kaschchei-like sorcerer Von Rothbart causes Princess Odette to take the form of a swan at night.

Wayne's World came out in 1992. 1997 was Austin Powers but it was the sequel in 1999 that you all would have heard his "Shrek" voice through his Fat Bastard character. Mike's mother was born and raised in Scotland so what we all hear is him emulating his mother's accent! LOL

It was the first movie to win the Oscar for animated feature, bringing the recognition it finally deserves to the masses Overall, a pretty special movie for many reasons

2024-12-17 04:18:06 +0000 UTCFiona was cursed to become an ogre at night. Being that an ogre, Shrek, rescued her and they fell in love, I believe that's the only reason she remained and ogre. Had another dashing Prince come along and they had fallen in love with each other, true love's kiss would have made her into what she was during the daytime. That's simply what I've always assumed anyway.

See this is the kinda thing I was talking about with my other post. There's another scene where Farquaad is in bed shirtless with the sheets pulled up around him and tells the magic mirror to show him Fiona again or whoever, and with a grimaced face, the magic mirror complies as you start to see Farquaad move his hand under the sheets...to s of dirty jokes, I'm tellin' ya. 😂

Well, being that this is a DreamWorks animated movie, it was quite rightly assumed that many many children of differing ages would be able to see it. Now, young children most notably have trouble with many "R" sounds, and the studio knew this. So ask yourself how a 3 or 4 year old might pronounce Farquaad? "Fahwkwad" perhaps? So it was a literal conceptualized joke to have kids running yelling about Lord Fuckwad. This movie was not far from a hard R for many reasons. This is The only one I was sure about.
