The new release date for update 1.5 is June 16.

Vox populi vox Dei.

I've always wanted to write that Latin saying...

Okay, first and most importantly - Thank You! I certainly thought a few people would vote for Option 2, but I expected to see a majority for Option 1. Nice surprise, indeed. And no one, no one at all, not voted for 3 and 4. That's... damn, that's inspiring. It really is.

Okay. This is where I got into that situation where, you know, you get an idea. You think it's so bright and will solve a lot of your problems. You share it. And you start thinking about it even more. And the more you think about it, the more you realize it's not such a good idea. Maybe even an awful idea. You start to feel stupid, especially because you rushed to express it...

Additionally, I asked someone whose experience I value and who has been in development way longer than me. You might say he pointed out a few other things that hadn't occurred to me, which made me look at it from a different angle.

Long story short. The idea of a WIP (work in progress) game versions instead of deadlines is sent for revision. No votes will be taken. I'll keep approximate deadlines, for now. And, truth be told, I don't want to occupy my head with that right now. I need to finish 1.5. Then the next update. And that's when I'll maybe come back to this matter again. Or not.

Comments

Not to mention that WIP versions can be leaked and wrongly presented as full updates. Which would negatively affect the game's reputation. Or someone potentially will not read the warnings, and then try to load a save from such a WIP in the main game, which naturally will not work properly there. And who's going to get blamed for that? Me. And such a difficult structure of updating can also confuse you, the patrons, like this is now a WIP or a normal update? No, no... that was a terrible idea. No WIPs. If even something like this is going to happen, definitely not in this form and as a rare exception under special circumstances. But for now, again, no WIPs.

Glad to hear that. Cuz i think testing version will increase your workload 10 times more. You need time to prepared WIP version then you need to revised WIP text before release. Also, player might get less surprise cuz we played WIP version and get spoiler some contact. Anyways, keep it up. I believe you would provide a reasonable update.

No, I edited the post. I deeply apologize for drawing your attention to a not-so-well-considered idea. Won't happen again. I will now delay posting for at least a day before I post and confuse you (and myself). Now the 1.5 update is coming up, no later than June 16. Full update. As for the future, let's take it one step at a time.

So, we are gonna have something like a alpha beta testing version now?is that what WIP version mean?

I'll probably put it to a vote first (WIPs or Deadlines), where I highlight that I don't mind if people discard the idea of WIPs and prefer approximate deadlines. In case the WIP idea prevails, then each WIP will have a whole series of warnings inside. That this is a WIP of update and not an actual update. That the saves there are not relevant and won't work in the main game once the player enters WIP "territory". That is, the WIP will work absolutely fine until it reaches a point in the game where there is an update in progress. There will also be warnings there. And of course, WIPs will only be for updates that take me over two months to work on. Short updates will do just fine without them. Something like that.

WIP progress builds make sense to me. I probably wouldn't use them, but it is nice to know that stuff is happening and progress is being made. It would probably be nice to post the disclaimer about saves whenever you post a WIP build, because I am absolutely the sort of person to forget that.

Well, the voting ended about an hour ago, which is exactly at 00:00 my time. About not worrying about patrons... Well, I guess that's just not about me :) On the one hand, I'm not doing this game just for the money, otherwise, I would doing something... simpler. On the other hand, I currently depend on that money (circumstances...), so I really don't want to upset you guys. About the possible WIPs. it's an attempt to find a comfortable compromise. Deadlines, not really working out. And in one or two months, given the structure of the narrative, all those choices, scene changes, depending on them... Well, 5-10 minutes of that gameplay for you is at least a week's work for me. And waiting 3-4 months for an update, for many people is too much. I can understand why. So, I'm trying to... to come up with something.

I only just saw the vote now so didn't get to add my voice but I am fine with delays and no deadline going forward. Do what works best for you without worrying too much about patrons. There will probably always be some that complain but I bet most are here because they like your work. I am not supporting you to get constant monthly updates. I support you since I like your game, and as long as you keep the quality high I will continue to support you. As for WIP versions I don't see the need for them personally. Just some vague updates every now and then is more then enough for me. Even the progress updates you have done so far are longer then what many other creators write.
