Thank You For October! + chitchat

Another month coming to an end, thank you so much for all the support and company 🥰

This month I felt like I had eleven things and ideas rolling around in my head all at once, but regardless of that I’m glad I got some of them out as planned. That being said, that left some serious brain worms gnawing around up there that I definitely have to pursue next month or as soon as I manage to: for example an ancient greek warrior Endhawks AU (I’ve been playing AC: Odyssey, sue me!!).

This month was also huge for me when it came to IRL personal life! I fear I’ve been a bit in my own head and distant because of it, stressed certainly, but in the end it has all been positive: last spring I finally allowed myself to say I’m trans. That I’m enough. And so, after months of waiting, earlier this month I had my first health care appointment to start that journey. While there’s a lot of ugly words that could be said about the state of trans health care and rights in my country, the first meeting I had with the nurse left me feeling happier and more hopeful than I have in a while. That together with coming out to my family have been, to put it lightly, somewhat anxiety inducing, but I’m happy to say that overall this has been a very positive turn for me.
I’d like to extend a huge thank you to you for allowing me some fumbling around and exploration in my art, it has helped me tremendously in allowing more self acceptance and excitement into my life. I can only hope the arts have brought joy to you as well, no matter for what reason ❤️

Another thing I started working on this month was building my own website! It’s nothing yet, I have feet for hads when it comes to tech so it’ll take a while and might not be the prettiest even when finished, but for a while now I have wanted just a simple image gallery/archive all of my own outside any social media. Once I get it presentable I’ll share it so that everyone who actually can code and build sites can have a stroke from how atrocious it looks 😂 But for real though, as long at it’ll have a button to take you to a gallery, I’ll be satisfied.

Then, lastly, some talk about the patreon side of things! I’m sure many already noticed that patreon rolled out a subscription billing feature a month ago. Until now the only option for up front billing was the 1st of month model, where no matter the date the patron pledge was made the next bill for everyone would automatically happen on the 1st of the next month. The new billing option would now allow the charges to roll in throughout the month, an exact month after everyone’s individual join date - much like a lot of subscription services like netflix etc. already have been doing it.
I decided to wait for a while before turning this feature on, because a) once it’s turned on I can’t reverse it back, b) my schedule is pretty strictly tied to the monthly cycle, and c) I wanted to see reviews from other creators in case they discovered any bugs in this new system.
As it is now a month since this became an option, I’m expecting to start seeing if any problems have come up. So far I haven’t seen anything bad, so I’m pretty confident I can turn this new billing on sometime next month.
In any case, for all current patrons this doesn’t bring any changes. However if you take a pause from pledging but want to come back another month, remember to look at the small print at the payment check out that tells you your next billing date! That’s the sure way to tell if I’ve switched over yet or not. Regardless of any of this, however, I still encourage start of the month pledging!
