Sketch to Lineart

A little something before I head out! The progress from the very first sketches and ideas to the final lineart on the latest third tier piece.
I promise the lineart doesn't just materialize from thin air like that 😂 I do this thing where I still "sketch" on the lineart layer, map out the right lines with very low pressure and light, sketchy strokes, and once they're to my liking, I redraw over them, still on the same layer, with more pressure. It suits me very well, but seemingly erases a step in between lol🙈

Once more, Happy New Year to y'all!

Oh no, that is both the best technique and the worse the 'just vibes' xD but it would be interesting! With some of your previous videos I've even managed to zoom in and watch it in slow motion to try to understand but yeah, it is interesting, cause you go and do a lighter lineart and then go in to deepen it which is a really interesting process!

Thank you! 🙏🥰

Thank you! It's really fascinating to look at the very first sketch after finishing , too, it's always so similar yet so different.

I guess I could do like a zoomed in lineart timelapse sometime! Idk if I could explain in-depth what was happening, the process relies way too much on "head-empty-just-vibes" 😂 But it could be cool to record in more detail.

Happy new year Meagan!🙏✨✨

oooh! I've done that! I can't embed direct videos to posts, but if you look at the tag "timelapse", those posts have downloadable little videos attached. The minotaur pieces from November had them, for example: https://www.patreon.com/posts/117001938 Literally the only reason I don't do it more often is because I keep forgeting to turn the recording on 🙈😂 And I use clip studio paint!

I don't know what art program you use (if it supports process captures) but I'd love to watch a sped up process vid from you some time! ❤️

Happy New Years Pete! So excited to see what’s next from you! 🥂

You know what I'd be interested a little, and it's completely okay if you don't want to share, but how you go about doing lineart, like, figuring out line weight for what areas, why you do the lines the way you do, where you pick to do shading or not, I think (well for me) it would be really interesting to learn because it's always fascinating why people lineart the way they do! I also feel so much better about my sketchy ass sketches now haha

Ellie

It's amazing to see the process

It's always amazing to see how you get from a a few shapes so such detailed art. Can't wait to see what you come up with next! ❤️
