Very good point! I had forgotten the source of the Benjen-Coldhands denial. I’ll admit that I also don’t completely trust GRRM not to misdirect readers, because he is pretty sneaky.

Hmm! Maybe I can do a bit of both xD

He didn’t actually say this. People are getting this from a tiny little margin notation in the books. GRRM’s editor asked, “Is Coldhands Benjen, and does Bran recognize him?” And GRRM’s notation was “No.”. I am of the firm belief that Benjen is not Coldhands, because the children said he was very old. But it isn’t really true that GRRM debunked this theory because you can’t answer 2 questions with “no”. He’s sneaky like that.

I always explain to my younger friends that Bran is the internet. It’s all there, everything you could possibly want to know, but you have to know how to Google by subject to get something accurate to download.

You are honestly the only reactor who does the after-show recap after editing. It is a fresh take, and I dig it. But every now and then, especially in late season 6 and all of season 7, we would love to see your genuine, unfiltered right-after-the-episode reaction. :D

Haha thank you :) It definitely helps that I watch everything again when I edit!

Brilliant! A fantastic reaction and you covered absolutely everything in your review. You have an excellent understanding and recall of the show for a first-time watcher.

Ha! I re-read this, and realize I sound like *that* person. I’ve obviously given this more thought than I should. :-D

Oh, I know, but it’s a declaration he had to make because book readers were still pretty insistent that CH must be Benjen, which goes to my point. It’s confirmation some book readers were looking for, which is at least part of the reason they went with the slow reveal. The show runners are interpreting the story their way, cutting some characters entirely, changing some a bit, combining others into one. In this case we don’t really get Coldhands, but we get a Coldhands/Benjen mashup. In the books we get CH, who might be someone else, depending on how reliable one considers the narration. ;-)
Anyway, that’s a lot of words to say that my only point is sometimes the show remembers that there are book readers watching this, wondering if some characters/theories were completely excised from the show.

Yes he has. And it makes sense since Cold Hands has been around for hundreds of years.

GRRM has in fact said Coldhands is *not* Benjen, hasn’t he?

Ha, trying to make sense of the Braavos plot! Good luck!

Also, the Benjen reveal is slow I think as a nod to book readers. In the books there’s a character called Cold Hands who some people think is Benjen, but it hasn’t been confirmed.

Sam and Gilly’s dinner is like obligatory Thanksgiving with your racist uncle, turned up to 11. Sam was probably the only person in Westeros wishing his dad was like Stannis (keep reading Samwell). 😂

Bran doesn‘t know everything that ever happened or will happen. You have to look at it like a giant library with all of human kinds history. It‘s all there, but he has to know where to look specifically and go there individually each time - otherwise he perceives it as a big mess. That‘s basically what he was trained to do by the former three-eyed-raven.
