My guess would be that the Grimm that attacked Tyrian's transport was sent by Salem, and that it was essentially her recruitment speech. There's something in the way that he both worships her and is terrified of her that would fit with that kind of first meeting.

However a potential idea for his semblance was a pocket dimension ability—this ability was later saved for Fiona (the sheep girl on Robyn’s team…. You saw her absorb the whole truck into her hand haha)

2022-01-02 15:09:39 +0000 UTCWhen Ren learned the whole Salem story back in volume 6 one of his first questions was “If Salem can’t be killed then how are we supposed to win this?”. This was evident last chapter too when he was more worried about training than taking a break. There are other hints of this concern too, like when he was dismissive of Nora’s compliments back inside the mines. The dude seems to be putting up more walls around himself than he already had because of the severity of the situation.
