I think Penny knew exactly what she was doing. Like when she got Sheldon drunk the last time. Drinking is not a big deal to Penny. As you said, what she did last time was illegal and unethical, but I don't think she would see it like that. Penny also has issues with alcohol though. Doesn't make it okay, but it makes how she approaches it understandable. I'm like you. Never been a drinker. Only gotten borderline tipsy. Just got very giggly. Don't see a point. It's gross. Even when you see people taking shots, they are wincing. Unless you are numbing yourself for some reason, and in which case, go to therapy instead. I do have to say though, I like drunk Sheldon.
