It's funny that you said you were surprised Hallelujah worked in the context of a movie, because I'm pretty sure a lot of people from my generation know the song BECAUSE of this movie (at least Spanish people). Also, I wonder if you know how influential Shrek was during the 2000s: it won the first Best Animated Picture Academy Award ever and practically established a new style for making animated movies (unconventional protagonists, funny annoying sidekicks, more adult-oriented humor, extensive use of references, pop songs in the soundtrack...). You can feel Shrek's influence in A LOT of animated movies from the past two decades, both in Dreamworks (Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda...) and in other studios (Ice Age, Despicable Me...). Anyway, I really enjoyed your reaction and I'm REALLY looking forward to your reaction to Shrek 2, which is one of my favorite movies of all time.
