In the original book by Roald Dahl, Matilda actually lost her powers at the end of the story. It was chalked up to the resentment of her situation being gone. Also, Pam Ferris (Trucnchbull) is an English actor who had typically played very sweet characters on English TV prior to this so it was a bit of a mind**** to see her in this role

In the book apparently Danny and Rhea-Matilda's parents-actually are married, and great people. They took her in during that time, and she said she didn't know this but Danny snuck in the hospital to make sure her mom could watch a copy of the movie since she wouldn't be there during the premeir event. When Mara found out she got really emotional about it <3
