2022-09-15 21:43:39 +0000 UTCHocus Pocus is a classic. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but it is not Halloween until you see it. I will also randomly say "Amuck, amuck, amuck!" lol They had the film air in July, as they didn't want it to compete against Nightmare before Christmas in October. Also, things I learned as an adult, and am very glad they left out of the film... as it's DISNEY... Mary barks and can smell children because her father was a bloodhound. Yeah... that is something that does not need to be in a children's movie. It is a crime that they aren't having Thora Birch (Dani) come back to the new movie. I am so annoyed!! It doesn't even need to be a big thing... Have an end credit where she comes on screen and has one line about something like "this all sure seems familiar" or something to that degree. Thora Birch was everything back in the day. They really messed up on that one!! Something that is very misunderstood these days, but was absolutely normal back then was kids doing things on their own. When Max suggests Dani go trick or treating on her own. A big place like Salem, yeah, even then it would be iffy, but more so because she doesn't know the area. At that point I was 12. Sure, I was and still am small town midwest, but we went out in a group of kids by ourselves by the time we were... 6, 7. Alone by 9 or 10. As long as you knew the area of course. Not any more, obviously. Hocus Pocus is just nostalgia for us 80's kids. And Btw, Bette Midler, while also an actress, is more so a singer. Look up some of her music. She is amazing. You've probably heard her song Wind Beneath My Wings. Not her song originally, but it's the version most everyone knows.
